Amazing App

A lot of dating apps out there feel super shallow and a bit dystopian. Swipe on 1000 people with no bio and maybe you’ll stumble across someone you’re 20% compatible with who’ll disappear after messaging for a week - Boo isn’t like this.

I’ve been on a few different apps, and Boo is more like a hybrid social media/dating platform that prioritises actively rewarding actions that encourage people to put themselves out there. Profiles are therefore a lot richer in personality, people are a lot more engaged, and there’s bunch of ways to meet someone other than just swiping. I’ve met both friends and romantic interests on the app because of this model.

Another thing to mention is that the type of people who use Boo are… different. In a good way. Boo doesn’t attempt appeal to the standard rigmarole which results in 200 thirsty guys chasing 20 girls who are o the app just to get IG follows. I can confidently say I’ve never personally seen a bot profile that’s there to just advertise or drive follows on other platforms. They’ve kind of purposefully lent into the idea of onboarding people who are sick of the conventional and want to actually take dating online seriously, and it’s served them and their user base really well. Not to imply that everyone you see on the app will be a match, but it’s 10x more likely than other apps from my experience.

Good job to the Boo devs.

Glad I Chose This One

Still costs but the weekly one is reasonable and its looking awesome so I think it will be worth paying for more for sure! Love that they face recognise so you know the person you are talking to is most probably that person!

fun

Boo is a refreshing take on dating apps, focusing on personality compatibility rather than endless swiping. Using MBTI-based matching, it helps you connect with people who truly align with your values and communication style. The in-depth profiles and personality insights make it stand out, fostering meaningful conversations and connections. It’s also great for both local and global matches, catering to friendships, casual dating, or serious relationships.

While its user base is smaller than some mainstream apps, the quality of interactions more than makes up for it. Some features require a premium upgrade, but if you’re looking for depth and real compatibility, Boo is worth it.

Boo review

Already a good review coz it rhymes. I think compared to everything else I’ve used boo is great. I don’t like that it does a lot of the matching for you. But the filtering you have access to whilst it’s free is so much better than any other app. Other free features are a huge benefit. You can earn your way to pay for things. There’s cool powerups and not just simple abilities you pay for. Great app. Other apps feel like they’re f’ hiding people from you who are close to your area 💀

Not a single match in 2 weeks

I downloaded this app following the good reviews, even paid for the subscription given the cut price. Do not be fooled. It’s truly awful and just the same as algorithm tricks as hinge. Has all the people you might be interested in the equivalent of the stand out section, here called ‘For you’ and you can only ‘super love’ them. You also only get 2 ‘super loves’, I assume per week, even when you’ve paid for the subscription. The rest of the profiles you see and the ones who you like you, you’re unlikely to be interested in. I liked a fair few profiles and didn’t get a single match. Just another money making app, don’t waste your time or money. Feel like most of the reviews were either written by people who work for Boo or are friends and family of employees - it’s the only reasonable explanation for such positive feedback of this truly terrible app. Would give no stars if that were possible. Deleting with 5 months and 2 weeks left on my subscription

From a great to a terrible dating app

Boo used to be my favourite dating app, where I actually found the best matches and had the best conversations - even amid being one of the most basic apps and with a lower dating pool. However, after returning to it, I realised they now try to force people to pay for subscriptions to access even the most basic features, like checking who has liked you and such - I would get lots of notifications but not be able to check any at all to select a match. Can’t even understand the reasoning behind this. This type or forcing people for paid services just really put me off, and I didn’t last a day in the app this time around.

Good app

So far this app has definitely impressed me. I rarely have any fake accounts interact with me and they are actually genuine people that are nice on here. The only thing I would say is sometimes it is a bit hard to get people to message you back but other than that my interactions have been positive. Another thing I would suggest is the coin system may need some improvement. I noticed that I stopped receiving daily rewards after the first week so the only way I’m able to get coins is by watching a whole bunch of videos, which only gives you five coins per video which in my opinion isn’t a lot of coins you end up needing to watch 10 videos just to be able to message one person I’d recommend that this could be increased a little bit or the price to message. Someone could be lowered that or have the daily rewards be longer than one week and have it be a constant daily thing, I know there are other tasks, but some of them are only one time things and I don’t do a lot of posting or commenting on posts to get them but otherwise so far. So good with this app. Keep up the good work

Really expensive

The concept and setup of this is great. I wish we could browse people’s profiles instead of just being given one to say yes or no to, but it’s actually pretty good navigating. But I’ve had a few friend requests and messages, and I’m not allowed to even LOOK at them apparently ?? If I try to open a message, it says I can only do it if I buy a subscription, which is over $5.50 a WEEK, $68 a year, or and I wish I was joking, $300 to buy this app. I get they have to make money, but my goodness. It’s unusable without this, as far as I can tell.

Changing my rating a little, because I have been able to message a few people. I’m really not sure what makes me be able to message a select few people, but not the others.

The one really good thing about this app is that you are able to make posts, and it works a little bit like social media. Which can obviously really help in saying a bit more about yourself, and start conversations.

You thought tinder paywalls were bad?

The bad reviews are not exaggerating. Spent longer making my profile with all the questions it asks you than I did actually looking for a match. I swiped left maybe 10 times, and got hit with a paywall saying I’m out of credits. Someone sends you a friend request? Paywall The business model here is ridiculous, quite clear that the devs don’t care about you finding people. The idea of having a public profile is awful and defeats the purpose of the app. If I see someone has 5k+ followers, and I’m looking for a romantic match, I’m swiping left. Don’t waste your time

Waste of money and time

Absolutely disgusted that I actually paid money for this garbage. I got sucked in by their marketing. This app promotes itself as being different to the others, but it is just the same as the rest. Gets you to fill out a detailed personality quiz, then proceeds to show you countless profiles that aren’t even your match (which begs the question, why bother with the detailed personality profile if you aren’t going to utilise that data?). In addition, it fails to show you profiles from your own area. I was getting nothing but people from interstate. Even if you do match it’s the same old story - you message someone then there is never a reply. Dating apps are nothing but a scam exploiting lonely people. Don’t fall for it! I have nothing but contempt for the developers of this app. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
