Not user-friendly

I got the premium version. I saw that it is blocking even the clock. For the last 30 minutes, I've been trying to remove the control over the clock without success. No customer's service

Odd trial pricing strategy

3 day trial along with year long plans. Like all of us
(Parenting) life is busy. Can’t really commit to a year long plan with just 3 days to evaluate.

Having some difficulty with getting used to it

It seems to do everything it advertises. It doesn’t seem as intuitive to use as other software. Sometimes things happen and we don’t know why which is becoming frustrating. My son’s apps keep disappearing from his phone even though it is not during a restricted time. The support team is very good though and have been helping with this.

50% great, 50% disappointing

Half the time this app works well and is super informative and efficient for parental control

The other half of the time it doesn't work at all

1) somehow permissions consistently deauthorize and Qustodio doesn't inform the parent app that this happens so you happily think you're in control while your child happily does whatever they want
So when permissions are properly active it's great!

2) if they start a.call before bedtime enables they can continue said call past bedtime, even if the device is supposedly restricted (Bark Phone used to be like that but they finally fixed it)

3) you can't block texts except in bedtime mode and then there is no text at all (even to parents)... Even on the study only modes they can still text friebds

4) laptop use is spotty...also continually deauthorizes or I have to re download the Qustodio app regularly

5) text monitoring is sporadic, not all texts

6) not a clear way to add trusted contacts (at bedtime trusted contacts should be allowed)

Qustodio support even with premium is mostly just sympathetic with a standard " sorry we don't have that feature we'll recommend it to developers "

I like Qustodio because it's more comprehensive than Bark but Bark PHONE is more reliable (in that it disables the phone when permissions deauthorize) this hit annoying after awhile so I haven't decided whether it's worse for nothing to work or everything to work (when you think it's in study or bedtime mode)

Easy to hack

This app does it let you monitor how much time your children are spending online and what apps they are downloading but it has a many annoying flaws. Firstly you have to go into each app and set individual time limits for each one and for each day. Which takes ages. Far better to be able to set limits for all weekdays and then weekends. It would save a lot of time. Secondly my daughter goes in the whole time and scrambles all the settings I have just set. It should have a password protection on the actual app so that your children can’t hack in an un-do all the limits, the WHOLE time! Thirdly the children can just uninstall the app when they want so if they get cross about screen time limits they just take off the app. We are paying a lot of money for the premium version and frankly, it doesn’t work.

Kids can tamper

My 11 year old has deactivated the VPN and a friend’s 9 year old did the same. ( they don’t talk so one did not tell the other)
No support after purchase, several emails sent with no reply.

It has so much potential but the tech team are not smarter than kids.

Find another app, this one lacks

Good features but…

Qustodio has lots of promising features and they’ve clearly thought about what parents want from a screen time app, but ultimately I cancelled my subscription because it just didn’t work that well on my son’s iPad. It seems like they’ve had to come up with work-arounds in order to function on iOS, which impacts the user experience. E.g. if you want to completely lock the iPad, it offloads the apps to achieve that, except: it doesn’t work for some apps, plus your kid can still unlock the iPad and then freaks out because all their games have disappeared, and it’s slow to reinstall the apps when the blocked time period is over. I bought this app for less screen-time drama, and although it did help with setting clearer time limits and on/off times, it also created new problems and ultimately wasn’t worth the hassle.

to parents

im a 16 year old. you'd think- "wow, you must have freedom with your technology just like all of the other kids your age!" incorrect. since my parents got this app, it has driven our relationship apart, embarrassed me around my friends, made me feel left out and outcasted, and given me a general complex that ive always done something wrong. im too scared to look up certain things that are essential for me to know out of fear that my parents will see it. all my friends have freedom with their phones and i dont. my privacy has been violated constantly. my brother has a history of using technology to look up things he should NOT be exposed to so young, and my parents use this app to try and prevent him from continuing these habits (he still does it. the app doesnt stop it). i also got this app because of him. it's so frustrating feeling like i cant be trusted and that ive always done something wrong. i feel constantly guilty. multiple times, my parents have taken the restrictions off through their app just for my phone to not function properly afterwards. they've had to remove it and reinstall it three times. the app is glitchy and slow. i had to get an entire new phone because the program was causing my phone to be unresponsive. it is NOT worth it- the hassle, the money, the relationship with your child.

Our 14yr old was able to remove the app from his phone. How is that possible?
