  • Very good app for events

    Very good and functional
  • ok for the money

This app is a very basic app and not very easy to use. The focus seems to be on the ability to scan and track tickets, which is good. If you just need to generate some tickets and not worried about design, that what this app does. Very limited control over the amount of info you can put on the ticket and no ability to move it around. You can only add one logo/pic. Overall it's going to beat using one of the evnt services because it will save money for me and the people coming to my event. I'll do an update after my event in Jan.

  • Elegant app

This is an elegant ticketing app with some useful features. It’s use is in creating personalised tickets for an event then checking that ticket (and holder) on entry.

You start by loading its built in database with the names and email addresses of attendees / guests. This can be done manually one by one as they come in or, if you are working from an existing list of contacts, by exporting that list as a .CSV file then importing that into Eventcode .

To get you familiar with the programme a sample list of attendees is included for you to play around with.
There is a design area where you can choose what details appear on the ticket, where they go and what size they are. The key item is an individual QR code generated from the attendees’ details on the database. The design options are limited but effective. Fortunately you can export the QR code separately for copying into your own self designed tickets but this is a bit of a faff!

Once designed the tickets may be printed out for snail mailing or saved as a pdf for emailing as an attachment. The programme does not have a bulk emailer included so at this point you need a simple bulk emailer with a personalised attachment capability like ‘SerialMailer’ to send out all the tickets if its an event over whatever number you don’t feel like doing by hand.

On the day of the event the attendee turns up with their ticket, either printed out or on their smart phone and the programme checks its validity by scanning the ticket, either by laptop or ‘phone, signalling OK and cancelling the ticket for that admission.

Multiple admissions on a ticket can be set up, several internal databases can be checked simultaneously, validity date ranges can be modified.

The menu system is rather spartan and not that intuitive. You get your head around it eventually but I found it hard work finding out where everything was and then remembering that.

Scanning tickets on admission has to be done by laptop or smartphone. I do not like lending either so an ability for the programme to handle the input from a wireless handheld scanner would be a great improvement.

There is no facility included for handling payments.

We are trying it out in our club when we need to know expected numbers to an event where seating is limited. There are 60 members who have to each have a season ticket for club events and non-members who pay at the door having pre-reserved their space by applying for a non-members ticket. That involves two databases being checked. Is it secure? Well if a naughty person prints off a load of members’ tickets for their non-member friends then the system would notice on check-in, which is why we also recommend attendees also carrying personal I/d.

A very good basic programme with excellent written instructions and good online help. Worth paying for.
