Starting fonts

There does not seem to be a way to paste in an image so you can use it as a template. The image is not an existing font.

Want my money back!

No instructions anywhere. Useless to me.

Response from developer

Sorry for your confusion. You can find tutorials by tapping the Heart icon at the top, then the second tab at the bottom. It’s indeed a little buried, we’ll try doing something with it. Sorry again!

Solid mobile Font Editor

This is the only serious typeface design software in the entire App Store. Its capabilities are extensive and surprising - you can program opentype features, design multiple weights per family and interpolate between them, full support for creating variable fonts. I hope more people interested in type design are able to hear about this app

love it, but it doesnt' seem to work right now?

Hi Developer, this is exactly the kind of tool I was looking for. I would pay a lot for it, actually.

Problem is right now it doesn't seem to be working at all. Is there a reason it doesn't work? Do you have more documentation and help? Will pay! If you don't want to keep building this, I will!

Hi, thanks for the stars. You can find tutorials in the app from the HEART icon on the top main page then the second tab at the bottom. Also, if you have any specific questions, you are welcome to contact me through the email found within the app. Hope you’ll enjoy the app.

Powerful little app

Once you get around to navigating the features in this app, it truly is quite a powerful tool for any designer.

I needed to created a self styled Hebrew font for laser engraving (Stock font options just were not going to do for this project), and once I plugged in the the Unicode symbols for the characters, I was off to editing. Kerning is not super intuitive, but Im sure Ill overcome that learning curve as well... I can adjust as needed in the design software... Overlaps seemed to give prolems upon export, so a bit of reworking was necessary to simply remove any and all. But lesson learned on first go, so next should be easier.

Kudos to the developer of this software. Thanks for creating a tool that truly adds value to the craft of being a designer.

I dont know what the buttons do.

The app was made of Unicode characters and it's so hard to see in some Unicode characters. can you change the buttons? The buttons are hard to see and it's covered in the question blocks from super Mario brothers

Response from developer

Sorry for your not ideal experience. If possible could you send a screenshot to the feedback email found within the app? We’d very much appreciate it and fix what is going wrong on your device.

So confusing

Look, it is cool. But seriously, you can’t draw lines and it keeps kicking me out when I try to do things. You can’t curve the lines easily, and the template disappears immediately after tapping the screen. I tried to move the sidebar that pops up and has a bar that you can supposedly move it around with, and it kept kicking me out. You have to pay to do more than one character, let alone a whole alphabet, numerals and more. Terrible and not worth it.

It works well!

I'm not sure what the other reviewers were having problems with. The app runs just perfectly on my 2016 MacBook Pro running MacOS 12.0.1. I saw their freak-out reviews but wanted to try it anyways. PLUS you get a month to see if it works for you before you purhcase it! So you've got nothing to loose! So far the only thing I'm struggling to understand are the Kerning settings. I'm trying to fix a font for a LED Scoreboard clock so that when my display software shows a time 12:18 for example, that it will correct the Kerning so that the "1" are the same kerning as the other numbers WHILE at the same time, shrinking the ":" colon's spacing. I wish there was a little more documentation, BUT the app is elegant, pretty and seems to do anything you'd want a Font Editor to do!! Now, I'm going to fiddle around a bit more till I figure this out! ;) REVISION: I found the "?" button in the upper right corner. There are tutorials and examples inside that viewer. I think I can figure this out now! I don't know why those other reviewers didn't give it a good rating.

Thank you so much for the positive review! I’m so happy that you find the app enjoyable. Regarding how to set kernings, I have added a tutorial for it. Just go from the top Heart Button, then the second tab to see it.

Won't run on iPad or my Mac Pro

It won't even BOOT on my Mac Pro which has every bell and whistle money can buy, so i know the machine is not failing. And I saw the developer said it was more of a touch screen intended app. I got it on my ipad, i don't think it even lasted a minute before it just spontaneously quit. i would love to have an app like this. I sure hope someone comes out with one because this shouldn't even be sold with apps because it isn't an app. It's only the promise of one.

Response from developer

Sorry for your bad experience. It’s especially frustrating when the app works fine on my own devices but not on others’. To give me a chance to fix what’s causing it, would you mind sharing the crash log so I can know where it went wrong? If you don’t mind, in your iPad settings, under Privacy, there’s Analytics & Improvements down below. Then inside it, there is Analytics Data, where you can search for “Letterforms” to show its crash logs. Open one and share to weijiuqiao@gmail.com. There is no identifying information about the user inside so it’s anonymous.

App Bombs

After subscribing to get the app to work, the app bombs several times. Can not even get to first base. The instruction on how to use the app are very sparce and not very useful. Recommendations - don't get in current version. Needs a lot of work to make it usable.

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback. The latest version has fixed several bugs that could lead to a crash and added tool instructions on long press. The app started out as an iOS app with more of a touchscreen intended design. The recent addition of macOS support has been bumpier than expected. I will keep working on it and any feedback is welcomed.
