The biggest help in passing your LMSW and LCSW!

I cannot stress enough how helpful this app was for both my LMSW exam and my LCSW (passing both on the first try!). I purchased the pro version just to give myself more practice with the content and went through every question at least once. The quick 10 quiz was perfect for when I was waiting in line, had a bit of down time, or even working out. The content is accurate to the test and I appreciated having practiced a few similar questions that otherwise would have stumped me on the exam. 10/10 would use again but thankfully I don’t have to!

Congrats on passing your LMSW and LCSW exams!!! We are happy to be a part of your study journey!

Misleading

Despite consistently scoring 80-100% on this app (using the premium features and mock exams) I did not pass my eppp today. The questions in the app seemed much easier than the ones I faced in the exam.

DO NOT RELY ON THIS FOR EPPP

This app did not get me anywhere near a passing grade for my EPPP. Questions were NOT at all reflective of the questions from the exam. What a waste of time and money!

Passed my NCE today! Pocket Prep FTW!

Took my NCE today & passed with a 93% on my first try!! Pocket Prep is one of the best study guides for the NCE in my opinion & it was all I used to study for my exam. It’s convenient, affordable, & offers a variety of study options.
The most valuable thing I learned was to pay close attention to the wording of each question!! It sounds obvious but some of the questions don’t seem to have a correct answer, or multiple answer seems correct, UNTIL you reread the question- ex) which of the following “most” accurately describes/what does current research “suggest”/ “according” to research…these are subtle but extremely important distinctions to keep in mind

I also recommend reading the entire explanation provided for each question whether you get it correct or not -there’s additional information on why the other answers don’t apply which is just as important.

The stats section provides a score breakdown for each subject, which really helped me identify the areas I needed to focus on. It also helped me feel less overwhelmed. I found the “weakest subject” quizzes extremely useful & I enjoyed the “level up” quizzes.

Of course, the exam is different- & I was still extremely anxious- but I felt better prepared & more confident going in. There are so many study guides & they cost a lot of $$- a fellow intern recommended Pocket Prep & I’m thankful he did! Everyone learns differently but I would absolutely recommend giving Pocket Prep a try!

Well built; questions not helpful

I found the app to be well built and easy to use. The dropdown study feature on each question is as great. The practice exams and missed question quizzes were also an awesome feature. The app made it very easy to quickly move through a lot of questions and retain the content.

Having said that, I’m not sure where they draw their questions from, but the types of questions in this app were very different from the questions on both my ASWB practice test as well as the actual test. I didn’t want to pay $85 to take the practice test because I thought the pocket prep practices tests would be sufficient. But in so glad I did, because the pocket prep practice exams were very different than the real one. On the actual ASWB test, they had a lot of judgment and reasoning oriented questions whereas the pocket prep had mostly recall/memory questions in my experience. Additionally, the reasoning questions the pocket prep included were way to easy. There would usually be one VERY obvious answer and the others were pretty silly. But in the actual ASWB exam, there were usually two, sometimes three, plausible answers.

All that to say, definitely pay for the actual ASWB practice exams. And you can use pocket prep as a quick study resource when you’re on the go, but there are other better guides out there to utilize as your main study resource.

Passed today!

I took my exam this morning and passed with 12 questions over the requirement. I started lightly studying with this app in the start of April and have been using it throughout 4 months, some months more than others, but this really helped me out of all my study aids. I liked that it tracked my progress and gave me multiple formats to quiz myself on. Studying the rationale was the most important part and getting familiar with the mindset of taking it. The app was sweet to send email encouragements throughout and got to be fun to use after a while. Finally, this apps questions were a lot harder I felt like the actual exam, but just by personal experience. I found that these were very helpful in shaping and proving myself information in an obtainable way.

Incorrect answers to questions

I find the app useful to some degree, but I do believe that some questions have incorrect answers based off the information provided with the page numbers to the book. For instance, one question stated a client is addicted to alcohol and is aware of the distress it causes on the person’s family and friends. The client is now only drinking on weekends, and the client is inquiring about inpatient substance abuse programs. The question at which stage of change is the client? The app’s answer was precontemplation, but from what I’ve studied, the answer should be contemplation because the client is aware of the problem and is talking small active steps to change.

Passed My Exams!

I can’t emphasize what an enormous help this app was. So much cheaper than other study options, and for me, so much easier to engage with and actually use. I’m neurodivergent, and I have no desire to watch videos about an exam, read long pages of boring text, or use flash cards. Instead, this app is hands-on practice of the exam I’d actually be taking. This is truly a pocket study companion. I could pull it out at a moment’s notice: in line at the pharmacy, in transit, or as just a little puzzle to take a break with, like Sudoku or Wordle but actually productive. It ticks the instant gratification box for me, and I even found some of the questions interesting or helpful to further investigate for my own practice. I recommend this app to everyone who’ll need to pass ASWB exams.

Worth it.

I purchased the app about a month or so before the exam. I had already been doing some other studying through a program I’d purchased which was helpful too. I found though, for me, the continuous ability to test and retest was very helpful. The ability to read the correct answers, go back and review missed questions etc was all very helpful for me and easy which is really what I needed due to my busy schedule. I liked how I could just take a quiz whenever I had a minute and I took lots of them. The best thing about the app was the convenience and repetition of testing drills. Granite, there were def questions that I thought were not applicable to the MSW but most were. The other thing that was extremely helpful was taking the ASWB mock exam. It preps you for the exact set up of the real exam and you get a score at the end. It took a lot of the wondering out if it and gave me a boost of confidence. I passed the exam the first time and I’d say this app was worth the time and money. I’d also suggest not relying only on the app and pursuing other forms of prep as well, it all helps.

Passed the AMFTRB MFT the 1st time!!!

I was excited when I learned that Pocket Prep came out with a study guide for the AMFTRB because I passed my ASWB years ago (on the first try) using only pocket prep. Last month, I passed my AMFTRB with an 81% on the first try. I mostly used pocket prep to study, but I also used some of my old textbooks to help me study as well. I felt like pocket prep prepared me well and made studying fun and easy. It never felt like a chore. I did notice that one or two mistakes in the prep questions, but overall I thought the material was helpful.
