Love it

I just started using this app about a week ago, and I already love it. Sometimes I will find myself tuning out of podcasts because of my ADHD. But with the transcription feature, I don’t have to worry about that. That is pretty darn sweet. Also, thank you for making it accessible to the blind.

Meh, Still Needs Work

The navigation in this app is unintuitive. Text overwrites text on the subscriptions screen. Apple car play does not work. Only presents the list of podcasts episodes. Select an episode and it crashes. Tested in a ‘9 Toyota Camry with iPhone 13 running iOS 15.6.

Filled my phone’s storage

Used for several months and was happy for the most part. Did notice some problems that other apps tended to crash while this was playing in the background. But I wasn’t sure which apps were causing the problem. Finally decided to delete the app when I realized that it had filled my phone’s storage with 58 Gigs of data. Turns out it hadn’t been deleting old episodes even when I manually deleted them from the app. The only way to clear the old podcast from storage was to go into settings and manually delete them one at a time. Or delete the whole app. Good bye hypercatcher.

Carplay buggy

I couldn’t find any way to report bugs.
I’m the car, running HyperCatcher often won’t start playing. You may be able to select a podcast but play and it dumps out to the carplay main screen.
You’ve got to open the phone and launched HyperCatcher there and start playing.

I liked it but it has started crashing constantly

It’s almost un usable now, please fix

Podcast 2.0 First look

I have been looking for a podcast to replace the mess Apple has made of the built in app.
As a Baron Producer of the NoAngenda Show, I always test against this podcast.
The most glaring missing feature on my first cursory view is a sleep timer.

Best one out there for 2.0

Id like apple watch functionality though

Almost perfect

Sadly I can’t use it without being able to download full episodes. I don’t understand how the backend works but I hope it’s possible in the future. Until then I’m stuck with Apples app.

Great replacement for Apple Podcasts App but…

I’ve been using HyperCatcher as my regular podcast player for several months. Functionality is solid but sometimes the most recent podcasts don’t show up in the Episode Newest subscription list. You need to go to the Podcasts list, find the subscribed podcast then open it to find the latest version. Since HyperCatcher is the only iOS app that supports the podcast index (podcasting 2.0) that I know of, I can find shows that apple may suppress. I am supporting the developer with the premium subscription, but am not sure it does anything different than the free version (the app still asked me to “Upgrade to Premium” even though I’ve been paying the premium subscription for a few months. Finally, I’d like to use the newsletter feature but have not been able to figure out how to confirm a subscription sent to the email generated by HyperCatcher. I’d like to chat with the developer, David Norman, but have no idea how to contact him.

Replaced apple podcasts

With this app. Pretty happy with it. Some bugs with the search and one particular podcast makes the app crash. Other than that. Way better than whatever apple just did in their “update”.
