Sneaky app
Downloaded the original app was not able to top up the virtual card, however found out they had a tourist version that forces you to pay with your local currency with hidden charges added on top very disappointing won’t be using this app again
It just doesn’t work + zero support.
Congratulations on creating the worst digital card experience I can think of and have had the absolute misfortune of trying to use. Once a seamless card to which (as a frequent business traveller) I could easily use, top up and use again. But now it has been rendered inoperable to the point I applied for a refund, deleted everything, started again and still nothing works.

Suddenly couldn’t top up and only refunds back to HK bank accounts
I suddenly couldn’t top up and then when I requested a refund, it was only HK bank accounts. Avoid and use the physical card!
Ripoff
They charge you in your own currency and use an exorbitant foreign exchange rate. I can get HK dollars at the spot rate through a credit card or even a prepaid card. One can’t use the normal octopus card without a HK booking address. They also charge a 50hkd fee to use the card. When you refund it, they will take some of the FX difference away from you again no less. A scam. Suica in Japan is how it should work - no fee and they let you use any card.

Transactions won’t go through after the first one. And it is finicky at best… horrible app in general

Why force me to use any currency other than HK$. I know. So you charge ripoff conversion rates. I should be able to top this up via Apple Wallet app. Ripoff
Awful app
Get the app fixed, it’s not complex just uses the same interface as the original and add the feature to pay with different currency to the old model. This one charges a percentage to put it on the card and sometimes it doesn’t even show up on the card when you pay.

Can’t top up consistently
Incredibly frustrating app. Sometimes my card to top up works, other times it is denied. I have 3 different credit cards. It is the same for all of them. I spoke with each bank and it is on the merchant end. For example today I topped up with my Mastercard and then to test it, and hour later I tried again and the card was denied. Better to get the physical card and go through the hassle of topping up with cash at the convenience store or MTR!!!!

Topping up your ‘Octopus’ card results in hidden ‘cash advance’ fees with the Apple Pay credit card. Very dodgy…
