Description of Limit Screen Time・Taskfulness

Taskfulness – your mindful screen time app. Stop and think before using your phone: What do I want to get from this interaction? How much time do I need? Whether it's having fun on Instagram, working on LinkedIn, or browsing news outlets, Taskfulness keeps you focused and time-aware. Created by founders with ADHD, based on scientific methods of making behavioral change. How it works... You can customize Taskfulness to your liking by switching features on/off. Our features, by the use case: - Reason-first app usage: stop and think of your intention before using distracting apps. - Emotion Labelling: notice your patterns when scrolling out of irritation, anxiety, or fatigue. - Cooldown Minutes: tame impulsive scrolling. - Super Focus Mode: use certain apps for work, and mute the rest. - AI Notifications: set your real-life goal. When Taskfulness AI recognizes scrolling for no reason, it will offer you a short alternative task that aligns with your goal. (AI Notifications are generated on your side, and not shared with the developer or any third person). And more: Screen Time Goal, Leaderboard, and Task History. This app deserves more attention

This works for me. The concept is to enter a reason (which gets evaluated by AI) and set a timer before you can access a blocked app. I usually find myself not having a good enough reason (for myself, not the app) and just doing something more productive instead. It forces me to reflect on what I actually want to be doing, and not just automatically scroll to avoid boredom. Other app blockers I find too easy to mindlessly override or I have to set up a schedule, which I dislike. This app gets my present-self to regulate my behaviour, not my past-self. That guy can get bent. The app is not perfect, but it’s better than anything else I’ve tried. It’s expensive, and I don’t use a lot of the features, but after putting it off and trying to replicate the same effect with other apps for a few weeks, I pulled the trigger and paid for the year and honestly thing it’s worth it to me. Worth a try, I’d say.

Response from developer

Please reach out to me via natalie@taskfulness.com - it’s Natalie, I am the founder and would like to hear more of what we can change to make it better for you🙏💚And thank you so much for such a reflective feedback!

Missing when it was Actuflow

Seems like the free version provides no real features now (aside from 2 “emergency minutes”) which is a bummer. I really loved using this when it was Actuflow (downloaded in 2020), it was super simple and worked! Many thanks to the devs for those years ❤️
Unfortunately my phone must’ve removed my download of the old version, so I had to get the newest version that requires a subscription to use the reason/intent function at all :( If a pared down free version ever comes back, I’d love to use it again!

Response from developer

Dear Megan, thank you for your feedback 💚 Please reach out to us via natalie@taskfulness.com - we have a special program for past users. It will grant you free access to the updated app. People who tried both old and new version, said that Taskfulness is just as intuitive as in the old days, but more powerful and pleasant by design now 😉
