Unbelievably bad will not pair with box no matter what

I am pretty tech savvy but have found this app absolutely impossible to link to my Aura box no matter what. You should be able to do it via an IP address but the one given on screen from the box will not be accepted by the app and it cannot find automatically. Absolutely hopeless. Who on earth programs these things and does nobody try them. useless?

Not as bad as the box.

When I originally got the app I had many of the same problems as other reviewers have stated but my main issue has been the recorder itself. Turning itself off, freezing, and generally being a waste of space.
It’s a bit hard to do a fair review of the app when the thing it’s made to control isn’t working properly as well.

Fails to Connect to Box

This App is only good as a TVGuide! Every time I try to connect to my box i get an error message saying “Your box must be switched on and connected to the same network as your mobile device etc”.
Firstly, my box is on. Secondly, this App is supposed to let you send requests to record programs, so how can you do this remotely if you have to be connected to the same network???

It could have been so much better.
It initially starts off ok, then playback of recordings starts stuttering until they’re unwatchable. This happens both when streaming them from the box, and when they’re downloaded onto your device.
I contacted support in 2023 and they said an update was coming later that year to address the problem, no change for me so far in 2024.

Didn’t connect to box - App now update works

Original: Pointless app. Can connect via web, but app is useless (and gives no help in troubleshooting)

Shockingly poor app.

The major selling point of this product is focussed on the interface through the app. Which is shockingly abysmal.
IF the app loads the TV guide an immediate problem is identified through the close button being the same colour as the programme you are viewing in app.
The hardware is outstanding. The software is wholly inadequate

Surprisingly improved - now very much usable!

I’ve reviewed this software in the past and have seen it go from just about ok to downright useless. Something has changed and the latest version now actually works as it should do - for which I am very grateful as I’d feared it has been abandoned by the developers. So I’d say, if you used this in the past, take another look - you might need to delete/reinstall/clear all settings and start again, but it’s where it should be now. Thank you

What a transformation!

Congratulations to the developers. I recently slated this app and advised against buying Aura hardware if the app was important to you. It is now vastly improved and precept usable for scheduling recordings. The app loads quickly, showing the TV Guide, and the Schedule loads equally quickly, on request. It works reliably on iPhone and iPad. It could be enhanced, e.g. I wish I could cancel scheduled recordings, but what it does it now does well. I can't load Recordings in the app but that could be because the box is on Ethernet directly to my router while the app is on Wi-Fi to the Mesh system that's attached to the router.

As for the hardware, I still can't fathom the power logic or LED colours. It takes at least two separate presses of the ON button to bring it to life, whether or not it's in a deep sleep. There are other issues with the hardware too, notably random power ons that wake the TV. I'm much happier with the system now that the app works, however, and wouldn't discourage anyone from buying. Having said that, I'd still choose the Manhattan box instead, if I didn't want an app - I bought one and set it up for my father, and am impressed.

Updated Finally

So glad there’s been an update to this app it finally works as it should. One small thing I would love to see implemented is the ability to remove a scheduled recording.

Just updated and wish I hadn’t.

Updated the other day and now I can’t seek while watching recordings on smartphone. Was working before. Updated again today so I assume they had discovered the bug and fixed it but no, still doesn’t work. I have fast fibre, no problems with connection nor problems with any other apps or streaming services.
