Poorly Designed
The app is so very poorly designed. Most of the time what you want to do isn’t obvious. Want to copy or highlight text, sometime you can and sometimes you can’t. Want to move between typing or reading or speaking, it has no intuitive ways of doing this. Sometimes you can see a speak button and sometimes you can’t. The way it is structured into translate and conversation etc also doesn’t make sense often.
Great to have it but it needs a total UI overhaul. It feels like when the developers did it, using it all the time it all made sense. For the occasional user like being a tourist etc, it isn’t a very good UI.
It also will not speak some languages like Indonesian despite being on iPhones for a few years now. Indonesian is spoken by more than 300million people. It isn’t a rare language. Hurry up and implement the spoken part. Not every decision in life needs to be about money and markets.
