Huge potential absolutely tanked by ads
So, I gave this game a try, and at first, I loved it. I genuinely like their puzzles, I love the gameplay of what is essentially competitive crosswords, I like that there’s plenty of options for solo play. But oh my God the ads. First of all, ad free is a weekly charge, which is obscene. Secondly, IT DOESN’T EVEN REMOVE ADS FROM YOUR PLAY EXPERIENCE.
Yes, it removes the banner ads, and the forced ads between every single round of play. That’s great. But the game is still going to pop up a prize wheel every time that you have to play an ad to collect. It is still going to require ads for pretty much all access to any of the tools/bonuses it offers- and it offers them constantly, in unavoidable pop-ups, advertising the chance to watch an ad so obnoxiously that it is almost as bad as the ads themselves.
Which. If you are charging your players four dollars WEEKLY, to play ad free, should not be a thing. Twelve dollars a month should absolutely get you access to every single part of the game, rewards included, without being subjected to advertising. And the frequency of ads and “”prize opportunities”” is so high that it makes gameplay incredibly, incredibly frustrating. A game that should take five minutes ends up taking twenty with ads, eight to ten without. As fun as the game is, it is just not worth it.
