Save yourself from Scams

…this app was nothing but horrible customer service. I informed the AIS and Mercury GO team that my phone was picking up EVERY SINGLE drive or ride as me driving. I was a passenger… so I played a game on my phone or if I drove and needed the gps because I’m not a living map it would penalize my account. My friend isn’t the greatest driver. Why blame me and charge me. I additionally drive stick shift; I down shift to roll to the stop… and I downshift to roll around the green light turns, it’s a box…. How fast can I go over 2mph-5mph if I’m feeling deathly for a turn without risking flipping my car that is a square ???? Are you serious? When I was in neutral rolling to the speed limit; it docked my points… clearly not meant for manual drivers though it was clearly stated when signing up for this policy…. My car is a 2006 xB manual…. I’m paying $100 for a policy on my ‘06. I drive at the speed limit always, stop behind the line, and literally cannot use my phone while driving but of course I receive notifications considering I’m not a recluse or child or controlling parent looking for a new way to survey adult children…. It’s nearly impossible for me to check my phone with city driving (clearly I drive a manual vehicle if that was not stated enough) unless I’m on the highway. It’s Florida too; why would I actively use my phone on one of the most dangerous highways in the world. DO NOT OPT INTO THIS CLEARLY UNDERDEVELOPED IDIOTIC, HORRIBLE product they’re TESTING on their drivers (horribly I might add) most complaints are from a year ago. I’ve asked customer service for help with my passenger trips and they literally said it only works when the app is open… I don’t run this app. how did I accumulate trip scores when the app is closed?! That’s idiotic too. Giving customers the run around to overcharge… I’m certainly looking for a better priced policy… mercury clearly does not care even when being paid. $103 for insurance on a car that would be junked out… per month…. Versus a reasonable $88… makes sense…. Not. Just an honest insurance provider would truly erase this horrible customer service. Clearly they are not equipped to do so.

Inaccurate, arbitrary rating, no way to improve it

If you have the map on? You’re using your phone. If you have to dial a number to get into a gated complex? You’re using your phone. Stopped and waiting outside a store? Or for someone to come out? Using your phone. Your kid or someone else is using your phone when they’re in the passenger seat? Yes, you’re using your phone.

Ok the last one is more easily avoidable. The other scenarios, not so much. And Yes you’ll be dinged every time.

The majority of my drives are 5 stars. Also have a number of 4s because of the whole using the phone nonsense. As others have mentioned in these reviews, the app will drop your rating like a rock which is quite arbitrary. Oh, and you can forget about the rating ever going back up, it won’t. One drive of 4 drops it down. 5 5-star drives, it isn’t going back up.

Then again, why would they want to give you a reduction of premium on renewal?

Response from developer

Hi NoMoreWaze - Thank you for your comment and review. We understand your frustration but wanted to remind you that you can inform the app that you are not the driver by changing the setting from "driver" to "passenger." You also have 30 days after the rated trip to make that change. I hope that helps. You can find answers to concerns like these in the FAQ at www.mercuryinsurance.com/go.

Poor app

After slow speed and 5 stars drives, scores still drop without any explanation. The most poor accuracy app I ever saw.

Poor app

Scoring has been incredibly inconsistent. Scores sill drop after a 5 star drive. Over 2 weeks we dropped 30 points with the same amount of driving and no change in the typical # of stars per drive. The trends in the app show all 90+ during the time the score dropped.
We were already less than impressed because it took almost a month and multiple customer service calls to add one of our drivers. It’s never good when customer service calls and say they have no idea and can’t do anything about it. The app was part of why we went with Mercury in the first place. Now it will probably be one of the reasons we leave.

MercuryGO

This app doesn’t work very well. I got a 40 for turns which were two turns on green arrows executed at a slow speed and got a 43 for hard braking when all breaking was gradual. The last week’s score was 97, this weeks was 40 based on one trip and my average went down to 40 based on faulty readings of two categories while all other categories were 100. It’s not worth a 5% discount since the app isn’t accurate.

Great for parents with young drivers

Great way to save money for good drivers and even better it’s a great way to keep tabs on your young drivers in your household. I can see where they are driving and how well they are obeying speed limits and picking up their phone while driving. Easy to use and if you have a bad driving trip as a passenger you can easily disregard your that trip so it does not harm your score.

It doesn’t allow for account creation?!

I downloaded this app twice, I tried to create an account to be able to sign in, but it gives no options to do that.
It just say to sign in with phone or email, and then ... sorry we don’t recognize this number.
Ok... how do I create an account then 🤔

Waste of time

I’ve downloaded this twice and it doesn’t work. Thanks for wasting my time. Yes I am a Mercury policy holder, have been for a few years and my agent is the one who told me to use this crappy app
