Andy is a great travel buddy
We absolutely love the Revealed travel guides published by Andrew Doughty. He is thorough, knowledgeable, interesting, and as my wife says, snarky funny. He gives us insights into the islands that we wouldn’t get anywhere else. He also has a great voice to listen to as you’re driving along absorbing the sites and the information he’s passing along.
We started with his Kaua’i guide on our last trip to the islands, which led us to purchase the Big Island guide for our current trip. Two friends from England joined us for part of the stay. They also loved Andrew‘s tour guides. They bought one for each of the two islands they visited after they left us, Maui and Kaua’i.
Andrew Doughty does a great job with both the spoken and written words in his travel guides. We especially enjoyed his description of the navigation heiau on the north end of the Big Island. His discovery of the meaning of the rocks in the heiau was fascinating. He’s a smart guy, and we feel enlightened by having him along with us on our visits.

We saw so much more than we ever would have! Been to the big Island 4 times and knew hardly anything until we had Andrew as our driving companion! Thanks for the extra hikes! We were exhausted. When Andrew says take a left here “it’s mandatory”, do it!! This guide does not disappoint. We have been fans of Hawaii Revealed from day one. 35 years of visiting the islands every few years makes having the latest revealed info mandatory and the driving tours deliver! Great app with occasional audio issues
We love the app. The on-the-spot audio makes it feels like we have a personal guide on the drive. Really appreciated the great information about the island. However, sometimes the audio would appeared to be playing but no sound would come out of it, or just cut off in the middle of the narration. This usually happened where cell phone signal was low or not available. There is no option to download all recording ahead of time, which may make this app even more useful.Show lessTws2023

Yes….we have listened to this tour many many times ! Started by listening to it at home prior to departure & then whenever we had new family members or guests driving in the car with us…even the grandkids (7 & 4) wanted it started back up when we returned to the car—after the recommendations at a specific mile marker.

My wife and I have been using the “Revealed” books for our trips to Hawaii for years. We usually buy the most current edition each time we go, just to make sure that we’ve got the latest and greatest info. We found out about the app through the newest edition of the Big Island book and decided to give it a try. The app has been great to listen to as we drive throughout the island and we visited a few areas that we probably would not have known about otherwise. We enjoyed Andrew’s sense of humor along the way as well! The app is very useful without the book, but having both on hand is my recommendation if you want to be aware of all there is to see and do on the island.Show lessScotty the K

I was incredibly impressed with the precision of this app when driving around the island. The fact that it would give different narration depending on the direction you were driving on the road was far more than I was expecting. And the commentary was great. As soon as my wife complained about all the speed bumps the narration would comment as well. He really knows this island. A great supplement to the Revealed books.Show lessSpankjimmy

We have used the Revealed tour books for several trips, but Summer 2023 was the first time we used the driving apps. Our Big Island experience was so much better because of this driving app. The precise locations and directions made navigation easy, and we loved the fact it outright advised to not do certain stops over others. The historical and cultural pieces to the audio were also excellent and it was enjoyed by my wife, 12-year old son and me.Show lessRyBalt

Our family of 13 (ages 4-64) just returned to California after an amazing 8-night stay in Kohala Ranch. We loved using both your book & this companion app, which we’ve been listening to on browsing mode since our return in order to continue exploring & learning about all of the ground that we were unable to cover (as well as to ease our transition back to “real life” 😉). This app is well worth the price especially if you pair it with his guidebook. We loved the tips, advice, and recommendations and appreciated the real-time GPS triggers. As we drove around the island it was like having a personal tour guide but being able to set the itinerary and schedule ourselves. We learned about the Big Island’s past and present, the economy, history, culture, and geology. It didn’t drain our phone batteries. Highly recommend.
PS I’d love it if the team that created this would do the same for other places aside from the Hawaiian Islands and Las Vegas!Show lesskayemorgue
