Great but why the subscription
I bought the easydens and it’s a brilliant piece of kit quick, accurate and easy to use. I don’t use my hydrometer anymore. I was so impressed I bought the refractometer as well this was to measure gravity during the mash. A useful function is using both instruments together to get ABV, I don’t have the means to check the accuracy but it gives consistent results which match with my calculated ones. The app is easy to use and it’s functional without the subscription but apart from storing batch measurements I’m not sure what functionality the subscription buys. Given the price of the device the software should be fully functioning without extra payments. In summary brilliant product great software let down by penny pinching

Wish I had bought this years ago. Love the features of the combo of the dens and refractometer. Wish it had notes per reading and could be synced with other brewing apps.

Doubles in price???
How does Anton Paar justify the almost doubling of the yearly cost of the app? Because we’re a captured audience?? Such bad form, you should be ashamed of yourselves.
Does what it says on the box
Nice and clean, easy to use UI. Could be made exceptional if it could interface directly with Brewfather.
Nearly Flawless
A well designed app both functionally and visually, but with a few small shortcomings.
This app is clean and concise, smooth as butter, and has no problems connecting with both the EasyDens and SmartRef devices I own. I do however have a few suggestions to improve usability and to streamline workflow.
I think we just gained multiple users which is nice, and I’m hoping that this also includes online updates so other users can check in on measurements, sort of like Google Drive applications. But aside from that these are some of my wishlist items.
1. More customizability for the beer icons - Instead of choosing from stock images, can you add a glassware category a colour category, and maybe even a foam category. This way we can make any variation we see fit that matches the colour, glassware for the style, etc. It may be useful to add an SRM value that would automatically choose the colour, but also to allow for us to pick any beer colour at the very least and any colour from the colour wheel to take it a step further.
2. Show/Hide certain measurements without deleting them - It would be nice to deselect measurements to clean up the charts without deleting the values.
3. Show/Hide certain beers without deleting them - Without a folder system you end up with a long list of items you have to scroll through to find something if it’s not easily searchable.
4. Folders - The ability to group together certain beers.
5. Sorting - The ability to sort by ABV, style, etc. (must add styles first).
6. Filtering - The ability to search based on the aforementioned sorting guidelines in order to show only relevant information.
7. Targets - The ability to set targets for at least the OG/FG and see variance from actual.
8. Comparisons - The ability to compare multiple fermentations to see how they stack up.
9. Predictive Analysis - If you have multiple fermentations of the same brand and load that profile, it should show you where you are likely to be during that ferment and how far from the standard trend line you may have drifted.
10. Device Support - The ability to connect with the DMA 35 so that upgrading allows you to use this interface.

Awesome device!
Awesome device! Worth the money honestly! Only thing I wish was available is an online account where you can pull the data up on your computer and save info. Also would be nice to change the date format as well. I usually take the data and convert it to a line graph and save it to the brew log, for a quick reference.

Subscription Joke
I thought I was seeing things after paying for this tremendously expensive hardware and then seeing the app is iPhone-only (no iPad app) AND requires a subscription to remove ads! On what planet is this a good idea? Really second guessing my purchase because of this.

In app purchase to get basic functionality??
I just paid $400 for this device and now I have to pay an annual subscription to get basic functionality? That seems pretty petty to me. Especially since I am a professional brewer and have some very nice $$$ Anton Paar equipment at my brewery.

Great Refractometer
Very easy to set up and use. Read the code from the quick start guide, installed the app, calibrated, and measured the SG of wort in less than 5 minutes.
