  • UX is awful

I’m in the design space and I know UX/UI - this is about as bad as it gets on the App Store. UX means user experience - it’s not optimized for mobile which is All anyone would use it for. You to step your game up please invest 5-10k into your mobile app and make it run properly.
  • More bugs than NH in the summer

The good: Beautiful maps and tons of waypoint info on the trail and trail towns. Nice to be able to download PDF’s for offline use or print if you want a hard copy to take with you. The bad: constantly crashes, slow to respond to taps, when logging hikes many of the pages mileage points are not able to be marked or it marks a point higher on the page. The main reason I wanted to use the app was to log my section hikes. Without this function working you might as well use a PDF viewer rather than this app.
  • Just use a PDF reader

The guide is good. The app is terrible. Loses my spot over and over again. Consistently fails to get past the splash screen.
  • Not A Free App

App page does not explain that you must purchase the guide on a website away from the protection of Apple. Should either be an in app purchase or simply charge for the app.
  • Terrible privacy policy

This may be a popular ATGuide but I’ll never buy it in any form after reading the shameless way the handle one’s personal information. I’m shopping elsewhere.
  • Better than the PDF

So, minus a couple of bugs, this is better than the PDF. The only thing I don’t like is that the download expires. Not sure if that means it will not be able to be opened after some time is 2022.
  • Yet another user ID and password?

I love the paper version of the AT guide and I’ve used it for years. I am thinking about getting the PDF version for my phone, but it’s requiring that I set up yet another user ID and password. I have so many already, is there a way to purchase this and use it without having to go to that extra step. Thanks a lot.
  • The AT Hiker’s Bible

This is hands down, the best Guide to the Appalachian Trail. I’m a section hiker and use this to collect intel on what I can expect to find on my route. It has not failed me yet. And now that they released this app, its one last thing to weigh down my pack. Physical book stays home from now on! Thank you!!!
