Paid upgrade… no import of v3 notes to cloud
Impossible to import margin note v3 notes to margin note v4 cloud, they only ever import to the local folder, and there is no way to move them from the local folder to the iCloud folder. Disappointing. This issue has persisted the entire margin note v4 release cycle. Support is useless. This makes this app useless. If you are on v3 stay on v3

The Go-To Study Tool, multifunctional without any lagging
It’s one of the best learning tool among those I’ve ever tried. The only complain about it is that it hasn’t make any announcement to establish a Window version, which is reasonable for a company that dedicated on Mac OS products. After a steer learning curve, you’ll find its beauty.

Amazing study tool in the long run but hard to start in the begining
A must have for students of all level and light researchers.
A bit hectic to start as it looks scary and complicated, but when you get the hang of it, that’s going to be the only app to study with.
As the developers didn’t publish enough tutorial videos in English, you may need to rely on English manual and documentations to learn how to use it. Although hard to start but I 100% recommend it. Go for MAX if you are a Mac user.

Undo ink
I'm having a problem with the “undo “, works with everything well but not with ink writings, it doesn't undo ink writings and if an older ink annotation is erased by mistake, the undo option doesn't restore it, I appreciate any help.
Great improvements have been made comparing to MN3
Academic wise, the new version is 100% cool, but it is also 100% more complex than the old version. If you are willing to learn this app, I am sure it will greatly facilitate your work/study (with mind-map / dictation / document review etc.) ‘WILLING TO LEARN’ means wasting hours to understand & adjust features to work in your way. Like setting highlighters / fonts / Notes/ Cards/ keyboard short cuts. It literally took me the whole day to understand the new features and how to use. By the way, the tutorials they provided are not very useful. You still need time to configure the app to the way you like, especially if you have previously used a MN 3. A lot of things changed. Good thing is the highlighting function on MN4 works better than the MN3, and they finally provided more options for mind-map structures. I compare MN4 with Goodnotes and Notability, I think it is more compatible for Mac users rather than iPad. If you use Mac to study, then it is a good option for you. For MN3 user, the sync function works well. All your old notes integrated to MN4. I used iCloud to backup all the notes, so the transferring works well for me between the 2 apps.

WAY better than liquid text
This app changed my life and made knowledge much more accessible to me with my ADHD. I have used it for years and could not be happier. No other app has managed to come close to the robust features it provides. The developers know exactly what their market needs and cares. You can tell they use it too. It’s a beautiful tool.

Ok but not great
As an app to help me annotate academic texts, MN4 works fine. But given that I have spent money for a MAX subscription to enable seamless syncing with iOS devices, I say meh.
The only way to get this to function is if I exit one app, go to the other devices and open it. Then rinse and repeat. Definitely not as advertised on the box.
It’s a shame, because the poor customer service and failed delivery of basic sync function lets an otherwise fab app seriously down.

Changing my review to 3 stars bc of lack of support and complications
Overall this is the superbe note taking app in terms of features. However, it is extremely complex and figuring it out takes a ton of effort. It is almost impossible to find the answers to simple questions despite having their "user manual" online, which I haven't found to be very helpful. There are certain times when the app lacks the ability to undo. It seems like it would be a simple task but it is not. Like how do you unlink a card in the mindmap? currently stuck with incorrect information taged to a card bc I had one extra card clicked when linking. Its almost too complex for its own good. I tried making an account for the forum to get some help but the activation email was never sent so I am stuck having opened an account that I can't log in to. The helpful hints are only displayed for a brief 2-3 second when using a new feature only to disappear forever. Not even enough time to read it in the first place. I also want the flash card system to work well for me but it has proven to be extremely tedious and throws off my workflow in how I'd like to set up my mind map.

Helpful and better looking
New MarginNote user I mainly use it for highlighting then copying text into a note taking app. Very complex to operate, but powerful and useful once you know your way around. Apart from the steep learning curve, a 5 star app.
No full screen support in iphone landscape mode
Overall this app is nice, very useful during study, but one thing is missing, it’s landscape mode during study, it’s not supported full screen and extra spaces are wasted. Hope developers fix this issue.
