  • No Power On, just off.

great app overall. 4 stars for not being able to turn the tv on with the app. clearly understandable since it’s need to connect via wifi first. an automatic connect feature would be nice as well, upon opening the app.
  • DON’T BUY!!!

I bought a “lifetime” version of this app for $20 and now I can’t even use it without upgrading to a $30/yr subscription, which I refuse to do. Every button on the remote I click on keeps taking me to the page for the subscription. Total waste of money.
  • I would give this 0 stars if I could

TLDR: don’t waste your time with this app or LG they are both trash. Just another huge company trying to nickel and dime customers after they have already purchased their product. Not only did I pay a lot of money for a nice LG TV the remote that came with it is trash, so I decided to try and download this app expecting it to work like the normal remote. Instead the app has a touch pad that is terrible and hard to use. And to put a cherry on top you have to pay $20, that’s right TWENTY DOLLARS, to be able to turn the volume up on your TV using the app. Or God forbid you don’t want to use the terrible touch pad “technology” LG so graciously gave us and would rather use arrows, too bad you have to pay premium for that too.

  • Promising but Ruined by adds and lag

Compared to LG TV Plus app the layout of the controls is improved. Easier to jump back and forth between controls. BUT - clicks on features quickly brings up adds to buy premium which gets annoying very quickly.
The cursor control suffers so much lag it makes it unusable (as you get the cursor close to the target it flies past over and over as you try to correct).
Further - ideally the menus one is flipping through would be on your phone because as your attention switches to TV screen you don’t see the boundaries of the track section on your phone so your finger frequently goes outside the area and up comes adds to buy premium. Arghh! So annoying.
Get the “LG TV Plus” app instead.

  • Alright

It’s pretty seamless but the major downfalls are if your TV is completely off you can’t use the app to turn it on. Which defeats the purpose if you miss placed your remote. It’s a good price though at only 20 bucks for a whole year. It is also annoying that you have to reconnect the TV every time you turn on the app it seems.

  • Either you pay or it’s useless

At first, I was simply dismayed with the app. Ads pop up fairly frequently, including some with timers that force you to wait. Eventually I noticed you can change the trackpad (which doesn’t work properly and is essentially useless) to the normal arrow buttons, but only if you pay a monthly subscription. Then I could no longer use any of the controls without paying for the subscription.

  • Bought the lifetime app, disconnects with our LG every few minutes

Fails to recognize our LG OLED every few minutes and we have to completely reboot the app to make it work again. App displays as still connected to the TV, but none of the icons work. The problem might be because I have ApplePay activated on my iPhone, so it locks after about 15 seconds of non-use (and needs Face ID or my passcode to unlock). I can’t be the only security-conscious ApplePay iPhone user. All my other apps stay on and ready when my phone security activates, and when I unlock the phone i just pick up where I left off.

What good is a TV remote app that you have to reboot EVERY TIME you want to use it?

  • Great app if you actually buy it

This is a great app to operate your LG TV just like the original remote (which my kids are always losing) and the added photo/video/music mirroring functions are really outstanding. Don’t believe all the stupid reviews from people who think everything should be free. What country are they living in? If you’re willing to pay for it, and it is $20, it’s a really great app.

  • Not Practical Without Subscription

You basically have to pay to use the remote overall. It comes with a default swipe feature that is free in the app, thought it lags insanely on the television screen and is quite difficult to control. There is then the traditional arrows that you tap to control the television, but you can literally only use it like... four times and then you have to pay. I just went ahead and deleted the app in the matter of 3 minutes 😅 I would probably give a better rating though if I was willing to pay for a whole subscription.

  • Bad design and ridiculous that it costs

The app is already terrible, yet they try to force you to upgrade by removing features after only a short time of usage. Literally not even worth using for free and they think this junk is worth money. The UI is confusing and it disconnects from the tv every time you close the app. The thumb pad is over sensitive and useless. This is just embarrassing software.
