  • Nice spaced repetition tool!

I've tried several tools like this, and this one was the most polished and had the right feature set while being reasonably priced.
  • Sometimes Glitchy with long Flashcards

I restarted the app several times and nonetheless found that if I included more than around two paragraph’s worth of text in a card answer that the text would perversely cut and paste sections of itself throughout, garbling up everything and preventing any corrections because those too would, for lack of a better term, glitch out and cause some other seemingly random garbling of text elsewhere. This was clearly a bug and, for obvious reasons, not appreciated. While I’m airing my grievances I might as well also mention that I am disappointed that there is no feature (as far as I’m aware) to move cards between decks or mass edit decks in a more streamline fashion than is currently available. All this being said, I still am happy that this app exists.

  • This App is Great––A Few Requests, However

I would really appreciate a way to look through cards one by one in a deck while also having the option to easily edit them. Presently, there is an option to look at all your cards for a deck, which doesn't let you edit them while doing so, or you can go one by one through your cards and edit them, but to move on to the next card you need (1) to hit a back button to view all cards, (2) select the new card, (3) hit edit, (4) hit save, and then (5) hit back, and then repeat the process. If you could at most have to hit edit and submit once and then move on to the next card with a, I don't know, "next card" button or shortcut, then that would be nice. Even better if you could view all cards in an edit mode. Maybe there's already a work around for this, so take this request with a grain of salt––assuming this review will ever be read, which is unlikely. The other more serious request I have is that I you should be able to move cards between decks. Add an option on a card to "move this card to another deck" or after selecting a deck to "select cards to move" or something like that. It would be tremendously helpful I think. Notwithstanding my requests and issues, this is a great app if you would like to, as the name of the app suggests, create flashcards that have latex functionality.

  • Great App

There aren’t many flashcard apps that implement LaTex. I love this one. Thanks to the developer for continuing to update it with fixes and features.

Thank you for your wonderful review and for using Flashtex! Best, Miká.
  • wow!

Im amazed how many features this app has! I hated anki cuz of how ugly and non user friendly it was. Not this app, its what i wanted anki TO BE. I use this app everyday. The creator is very quick to respond AND fix any bugs. I hope one day we get folders within folders :) Best 12 bucks I ever spent. Thank you for such a cool app.

  • Great functionality, interface but let down by gestures

As a linguist, using flash cards is a great way to learn vocabulary.
The great benefits of this app is that it has a lot of functionality - import options, study options including reversing the questions and answers, it also has a really attractive interface and helps you to organise your information neatly.
If you need to add images or handwritten/hand-drawn sketches, you have all the tools at your disposal.

However, the big negative for me is that swipe gestures to thumbs up or thumbs down a card are really bad. I’ve exchanged some suggestions with the developer so am keeping my fingers crossed that there are some gesture enhancements in a future release.

In Mochi flash cards you can swipe cards left and right no problem allowing you to focus on what you are studying rather than the uber sensitive swipe technique. Surely there’s an accommodation for scrolling and swiping.

The Appearance settings are also good allowing you to further enhance the look of your decks as you work through them.

  • Handy but buggy

Thank you for developing this handy app. Great job. However, please fix this issue:

After clicking on "Edit Card", if I go to another place (like Finder, Pages etc) and come back, the Card disappeared and all the edit I did gets discarded. This issue happens literally all the time!

    Developer Response

Hey, the problem you're describing is probably because your phone is suspending Flashtex in the background to reduce memory usage. This is a system feature and cannot be overwritten by Flashtex. All Flashtex can do is try to restore the editor, and this already happens. Flashtex stores unsaved changes and restores them the next time you reopen the editor for the same card. I hope this explains the problem. Otherwise, contact me by email at support@flashtex.app. Best, Miká.
  • Latex based system that outperforms anki

This app is wonderful and much nicer to use than Anki. I hope however, the author solves some bugs that come up when one tries to edit the cards on mac. Other than these bugs on the mac app, the app is wonderful!
  • Perfect for Markdown and LaTex Users

I already convert my University lecture notes to Makrdown using LaTex for equations, which made this app really useful for creating and drilling flash cards for my finals.
