Added a subscription feature for tracking daily usage of your pens on a Usage Calendar. Total days of pen and ink usage is reflected in the item’s detail pages. 2024.1 New for 2024! Pen Shows and Budget Tracker. Also, I added some friends to the Settings view so you can explore more pen-related iOS apps from the community. -------------------------- Check out the new Pen Show tab for a calendar of pen shows past, present, and future. The pen show calendar currently requires an internet connection but an offline version is coming. This feature will also be coming to iPad later this year. You can keep track of your budget for each show and document purchases you make and events you attend. Feel free to reach out with pen show information or corrections. For those experiencing issues with submitting feedback in the past, those bugs should be resolved. Check out the new Friends section of Settings to find other pen-related apps. Fixed scaling issues with photos in pen detail view and added a pinch to zoom function for those photos as well.

Penedex now supports widgets! You can place collection stats and ink swatches on your homescreen. Keep a list of your currently inked pens on your home screen. Tons of widgets to choose from. Some under the hood improvements have been made to support future updates and features for 2024 so stay tuned.

I have a few treats and fixed some tricks just in time for October. **WHAT'S NEW** • Two more icons have materialized! One is a spooky spectre looking for a place to haunt your home screen. The other is an immaterial assistant for all you rookies out there in need of a little guidance. **IMPROVEMENTS** • Small improvements made throughout the app to fix UI inconsistencies and improve usabililty. **BUG FIXES** • Took care of some creepy critters in the iPad version that were causing issues. Thank you to everyone who submits feedback and bug fixes, you’re playing a role in continuing to make Penedex better. This version includes a fix for how the app displays a purchase date when you choose to not use one. I’ve also added the ability to mark an ink in your library as an ink sample. There has been a minor re-design of the ink library list to increase legibility. I’ve added two new icons for subscribers as well. Stay tuned for more improvements and enhancements as the year goes on!

Saving a new brand in the Add pen/ink view will now make that new brand the selected brand to save with your entry automatically. Minor quality of life improvements and fixes including: - Fixed the icon list so that it sorts alphabetically. - Fixed sorting of photos in the pen and ink detail views so that it no longer re-arranges when the view reloads.

Penedex is an app built to easily keep track of your pen and ink collections. It also provides a simple way to keep track of what pens you currently have inked up. Penedex is built for iOS and iPad OS and allows you to quickly and easily manage your currently inked pens, identify which pens are ready for cleaning, and keep track of what pen and ink combinations you have used in the past. Organizing and cataloging your pen and ink collections has never been more straight forward! - Create pen, ink, and EDC entries. - Keep track of your pen and ink combinations in the EDC tab. - Catalog important pen-related info like material, nib size, photos, and purchase date. - Quantify your ink’s unique characteristics such as dry time, sheen, saturation, and flow metrics. - Penedex will automatically keep track of how many times you’ve used a specific ink or pen. - After you’ve cataloged an active pen and ink combination, you can easily mark is as “needs cleaning” or “cleaned” with a long press on the corresponding EDC entry. - All your previously inked pens are stored in the History section of the Stats tab, along with some basic metrics about your library. - Keep a wishlist of all your grail pens and inks. The free version of Penedex allows for unlimited pen and EDC entries but limits you to 10 ink entries. Unlimited ink entries, along with other great features, can be unlocked with a Pro subscription in the Settings page. Inked The Inked tab is where you can easily catalog a pen and ink combination. All of your combinations are organized by date and when it’s time to mark a pen as “ready for cleaning”, you can quickly do so with a long-press on that item. You can also quickly filter your Ink'd list with one tap of the filter button. LIBRARY The pen and ink libraries allow you to quickly add, edit, and view key details about your collections and find the right pen or ink at a glance. It even keeps track of how many times you’ve inked up a particular pen or ink. For pens you can store information like the nib size, material, and purchase date. For your ink collection, you can catalog information such as dry time, level of sheen, saturation, and shading. You can even use the color picker to save the exact color of your ink from a picture or screenshot! WISHLIST Keep a running list of pens and inks that you are interested in trying out! Mark them with a star rating and a specific date to more easily keep track of your grail pens and inks. PEN SHOWS An international lis of pen shows with details for each show, by year. You can also keep track of a per-show todo list and budget tracker. And of course, you can see a running list of shows visited over the years from the Stats tab. STATS & HISTORY The Stats tab allows you to view basic metrics about your collection. It also contains a historical list of all the pen and ink combinations that you have inked up in the past. PRO FEATURES With a subscription purchase you can unlock the following pro features. - Unlimited ink library entries - Fun alternate icons - A notes field for your pen, ink, and Ink'd entries - A wishlist to keep track of items your interested in trying out Penedex Pro is an optional subscription that unlocks additional features. Penendex is a well crafted and very useful application. I have been collecting pens and inks for 40 years and my Stuff has gotten completely out of control. This app offers me an efficient way to take account of my holdings.

An excellent tool for managing collections & shows
Whether you only have a couple of ones & inks or are into the 100’s, this is an excellent app for managing not only your pens & inks, but also pen shows! I really love the ability to mark inked pens for cleaning, as well as the wishlist function to track our next grail.

The pen show function allows you to plan out your visit by setting your budget, listing items you want to buy, any events or classes you plan on attending at the show, and a handy map of where it’s being held.

This is easily one of the best tools the fountain pen community has available to it.

DO NOT USE if you collect pens
Pendex loses data— entire entries for pens, and all history of ink fills/cleaning. The January 2024 update erased all data I entered after late June of 2023, but retained data from January- June.

Pendex doesn’t work for collectors. The UI for “inking” a pen is incapable of distinguishing between two pens of the same model, even if they are different colors or nibs.

Pendex frustrates advocates. I was cheering for a Pacific Northwest developer. Now I regret I making the in-app purchase one year ago. I was hopeful & patient with deficiencies for a year. Including the unresponsive developer email address that rejects all feedback.

I tried using Pendex for a hobby I enjoy. Pendex detracts from enjoyment, increases frustration & friction, and creates a sense of loss.

Let this be some feedback for the developer and caution for anyone thinking this app will be fun and helpful for their fountain pen hobby.
