  • Unreliable.

    This app is unreliable. When you try to load the page to initiate charging it “hangs”. Monta support advise logging out, back in, restart the device and if this fails delete and reinstall the app. None of this makes any difference. I have the same issue using an iPhone and an iPad Pro. The app delays charge starting so when it does work you still don’t know when. It cites the delay time but I’ve found this changes and several hours after charging was due to start it has not done so. The UI on the app is poor. It lists car models as supported or not implying it only works with supported cars. This only relates to the Green optimisation functionality but is misleading. The page to initiate charging is equally misleading. To schedule an overnight charge the you have to set it up then you have on select “slide to start”. If you want to start charging immediately you have to “slide to start” and then “start now” to override the green optimisation. The green functions are a nice idea but this is a weak implementation. I only use the home charger so can’t comment on public ones but a friend reports challenges with a school charger he’s tried to use thinking it public when it’s actually a “Team” device but the app doesn’t send error messages when you try to use it. UI could be better.

  • Garbage

    I find my app is disconnecting from my charge point every day. The charge point is the other side of the wall from the router.
    Then have to power off and start the process of connection over again just to put the car on charge.
    I am now looking at changing my charger, (which I have had only 1 month) which means I will get a more stable app than this pile.
    Avoid any charger that uses this app.

  • Awful

    Seems to be aimed at businesses who rents out the charger. I bought a BG SyncEV charger for my house and this is the app to use.

    It’s terrible.

    You can’t use it to track the cost of charging for on-peak and off-peak. It is full of bugs, e.g. can’t change the cost of electricity manually, takes 4-5 minutes to actually find the charger.

    Whilst the customer support team are friendly, they take ages to reply, and just send links to websites, where the instructions don’t match what is on the app. My issues are ‘with the developer’, i.e. they have no solution.

    Overall a very frustrating experience. I wish I had spent my £1000 on a different charger, one that comes with an app that actually works.

  • Finally an EV charging app that works!!

    Wow! I’d almost given up on trying anything other than superchargers - because all the difference systems and apps were invariably useless and over complicated.

    This was the easiest to use ever. Just log in with applepay (or google etc) pay with apaplepay. No need to set up an account, just download the app and you’re done!

  • Server error

    I struggled with this for many minutes before discovering Monta had “internal server error “.
    They now hold £40 of my money which is somehow much harder to get back from them - As my credit card doesn’t seem to have the IBAN Monta demand.
    Taking excess money upfront and not repaying immediately is a nasty business practice which we should not support.

    I guess if I regularly needed a monta charger it would be ok- but I don’t.

  • No service

    I have a Montana account which is loaded with credit. I was trying to charge at a charging point here in the UAE. The charging point was not working, yet continued to charge me when I attempted a charge. Monta sent the (Apple Pay) receipt to my registered email. When I found a functioning charging point and tried to charge again, I was unable to log into my account.
    When I tried to reset my password, I received the error message stating that “this email address is not in our database or registered users” though this is the same email that I receipt was sent to just minutes before. I tried calling the support numbers in the UK, but there is no one answering and they have not responded to messages left last week. There is no way to reach Support unless you can log into your account, which I can’t.

  • Works great BUT……….

    I’ve been using this to charge my EV while on holiday at haven always works ok and does the job and at a cheap price to my only grape is it never shows the charging speed on the app it’s always just - - - get that bit of the app working and I think it be great.
  • Useless app

    Tried to use this to charge my car only to have it fail both times which cost me £60 and I have to wait for this to be paid back
  • It is not doing it

    I can’t get the schedule charging to work thru the app. I’m disappointed. My charger is capable of do schedule charging but the app doesn’t really allow me to do it.
  • A little unreliable

    Fairly intuitive and simple enough to use but so often I open the app, select my charging point and then have to wait two or three minutes before I am able to schedule a charge or choose to start charging immediately. I reported this to Support but so far no response.
