  • Worthless

Will not stay connected to the camera for more than a minute or so.
  • Worst app I have ever used

Unusable. Doesn’t save settings. Can’t preview. Don’t recommend. Impossible to use product without proper app support, which these people do not care about what so ever
  • Camera is NOT waterproof

Please check out the TrustPilot reviews before purchasing.
Cambox state on their website that the camera is waterproof, this is clearly not the case.
The battery life is non existent so we contacted Cambox support to ask how to resolve the issue. They suggested an external battery pack and a flat USB cable which we purchased.
After reviewing footage we had taken a lot of the files were blank. Contacted Cambox again and sent the camera back, we were told that their was water damage to the circuit board. We didn’t even think to worry if we were caught in a light shower as we thought it was waterproof. Apparently, rain can sometimes come down the visor and penetrate into certain areas and cause damage (would have been nice to know beforehand). We even got told it was ok to leave the cap open if it rained and it was more a safety issue with the cap dangling than it being an issue with rain. Although we did purchase the flat USB cable so this wasn’t the case. Basically £200 to repair, although when I wrote a negative TrustPilot review the price was dropped by 50%. I still declined on principle. Please don’t be drawn in by its looks like I was, just purchase a GoPro instead with a Chesty to mount it that way instead.

  • PSA: Do NOT buy this Camera!

Sadly, this camera feels as though it’s still very much in its prototype phase. Much more work is needed to be done on the software. Not user or smartphone friendly at all. Do not waste your money. I’m extremely disappointed with this purchase.
  • Great camera, awful app

I love this camera but I wish I could say the same about the app. It serves no purpose as all of the setting options inside the app do not save to the camera, it pulls up an “Error” message. Both the app and camera are on their most recent update/firmware. Thankfully I’m good with Adobe Premiere but otherwise I would’ve returned the camera.

  • Not good, but has potential

The app does the minimum to work, and follow some of the worst practices in the market.

    Problems:
    1. It doesn’t open unless it is connected to the camera.
    2. You never know if the configurations were saved in the camera.
    3. The UI is bad, dimensions and organization is horrible.
    4. It’s really hard to predict the effects of each option change in the camera as also it’s hard to know if the camera saved the config.

    How to fix:
    1. Let the app open and show the last settings and an option to connect the camera, a list of previous connected cameras.
    2. If the configs are different add a button to transfer the latest config to the camera. So we don’t need to waste battery to configure it. And we know all settings are in sync with the camera device.
    3. Use native UI, forget those ReactNative components and go for OS native ones that works way better with the phone configuration.
    4. Add picture examples for the configurations, so users can understand best how they affect the camera.

    The ugly:
I got their most expensive model that should record in 4K. The main problem is color/HDR/exposure, the inside of the car is dark and impossible to see anything, the outside gets a yellowish/goldish color that is very saturated, making it very low quality even being a high resolution.
The files are 5 minutes each with few seconds gap of lost recording. It’s possible to change the config file to record 10 or 15 minutes per file, but that should increase the gap lost. This is probably an engineering oversight that instead of using SD IO streaming, they use buffer and dump the buffer in the SD when it hit the limit.
That also means that at low battery there is a huge chance that the last 5/10/15 mins will be lost/corrupted if there is not enough battery to dump the file.
The angle works for motorcycles, but for car you can’t see the dash as the camera have a very limited adjustable vertical angle.
The memory and charge port are at the side of the camera, what means you need to take it out of the helmet to access that, therefore you need to detach from it.
The glue for the helmet attachment can’t handle the heat of the helmet, the camera only stays in position for me because my glass actually holds it in place. Taking out of the helmet always hip the glue out too and the support comes with the camera.
There is no mark to center the camera in the helmet when mounting, you will get the time and perfect at the first time, and that will be the only time that will be nicely mounted because you need to take out and put back to charge, eventually all your videos will be unaligned.
It would be easy to fix making a plastic support with strong neodymium magnets that fit the camera in place and let remove by sliding it instead, so it doesn’t rip the glue of the support out.

Those are my thoughts and recommendations to make this a better product. For $500ish product I don’t recommend, you will regret very hard. Wait them to fix those issues before buying the product, because if they do that, it will be an amazing product as the concept is very cool.

  • I’m worried

The camera keeps shutting off randomly, and I’ve only had it a few days 🙁 if this is what I’ve bought not worth the money and the time I had to wait to receive it.Would be better if we didn’t need to keep connecting to the camera to be able to use the app and to record. I’m concerned I’ve bought a lemon and I was really excited about this

  • Bad

This app would be so helpful if it worked. I updated my camera and it still will not let me see a preview or my gallery. I think I will go back to using a GoPro!!
  • Shortcomings.

IThe app only seems to work when the Cambox is connected and the Cambox battery is always flat. I would like to be able to select certain videos and down load them to my iPhone but I haven’t been able to do it. The app is not robust and freezes. It’s not user friendly. It seems you either need a card reader or laptop shich reads the card.

  • App not for V4+ models.

I loved the app at first then it said I had to update the camera which I did but the app said I needed to update in order to see but I guess that app only works for those that don’t have the V4+ because my app stopped working when I updated my camera…
