User Reviews: Location Log

Top reviews

  • Perfect

This app does exactly what I want an app like this to do, and the user interface behaves exactly as it should.

    Developer Response

Thank you so so much - reviews like this really make my day! 😊👨‍💻 I tried hard to make the type of app that I would want for myself, so I’m very glad it’s appreciated by others too, thanks so much.
  • Great app!

This app is easy to set up, simple to learn, works great, and does exactly what I was hoping. It also generates location history reports for any specified date range— just click expert, put in a date range, select GPX file format, and email the report to myself. Then I can open the report in Microsoft Notepad and see all of the date and location coordinates for each day.

I have been searching for a free location tracking app that will collect my location data without needing to manually push a button to check-in each time, and be able to generate location reports over a specific date range. This is the only app I found that does all of these things. The app developer also responds to emails with any questions.

That’s really great to hear - thank you so very much for writing such a kind and detailed review 🙏 Day: Made ✅👨‍💻☺️
  • Calendar for the win

This is the third location logger I have tried. Finally, one that easily lets me check “where did I go last Tuesday?” Viewing this as a calendar makes it so simple.

    Developer Response

Many thanks indeed for taking the time to leave a review 🙏 Am chuffed to bits that my app seems to suit you/your needs. I built it thinking what *I* would want from an app like this, and so I’m very glad others (such as yourself) also seem to find it useful too - thanks again! 🙂
  • Available on Android

Would love this on an Android. I have to track my location for work and this makes it easier to complete my travel log. My work phone is an Android

    Developer Response

Thanks so much for your review 🙏☺️. Sadly I wouldn’t know where to start on trying to develop for Android (I’m fully iOS). I would be happy to email your company and explain why I think they should switch to iOS though 😜 haha (joke). In case you have any questions / want help with anything on the app at all, my email is in the ‘feedback and thanks’ section 👍 thanks again for taking the time to do a kind review.
  • Thanks!

Found this app while searching for a effective, non-invasive way to record all the antique stores we've visited here in Maine and all the motorcycle rides Ive taken. Hard to keep track of them all, and this way I hope to make it easier to find new rides and new places!

    Developer Response

Thank you kindly for taking the time to leave a great review … also interesting to hear people’s different use-cases (‘motorcycle rides’ and ‘antique stores’ - sounds great!)
  • Does what it says, and developer is responsive.

Saving locations is like archiving emails: I’ll never need 99.9% of them ever again, but that last 0.1 % ends up super useful to have handy. For ages, I’ve been on the lookout for something to keep track of where I’ve been, without storing that data on some server (like Google would.)

This app nails it! Private location log, stored on my phone, which can be exported to a standard file format as either JSON or GPX.

Plus, the developer answers emails. Great support.

    Developer Response

Thank you so much for your words ‘Wubs’… You’ve hit the nail on the head, as that is *exactly* what I was looking for in an app myself, but I couldn’t find one that existed, so I learnt to code and created it myself. Very glad that there are others (like yourself) who also wanted such an app 🙂 Thank you 🙏
  • Feature request: chronological viewing

Could you add a feature that shows locations in a chronological fashion? It would make the data easier to read

    Developer Response

Many thanks for the 5-star review ☺️ - as to your feature request, please feel free to drop me an email (address is on the ‘feedback and thanks’ section of the app) to explain a bit more on how you’d envision such a feature.
  • this app is beautiful

it does exactly what it says, with interoperable data.

this is the internet we were promised in the 80's, and i wish more apps were as tightly focused as this one.

    Developer Response

Wow! What an uplifting review to have received, thank you so very much ☺️. I made it as the sort of app that *I* would have wanted/expected (as a user), and so it’s great to hear that there are others who wanted such an app too.
  • Perfect!

Location Log does a great job logging location, including when cell and WiFi aren't available. Favorite features: data is stored locally, and ability to set frequency of logging. Battery seems minimally affected.

    Developer Response

Thank you kindly - it’s really great to hear such positive feedback for my little app 🙂
  • App works well

This app tracks my location. However, I am unclear if I need to have it ruining in the background to work. I always leave it running just in case it is required.

    Developer Response

Thank you for your kind review. To answer your question: ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ 🫤 To explain: ‘Yes’, the app needs to be running in the background for it to work (it doesn’t need to be in the ‘foreground’ - I.e. you can use other apps while it’s in the background, or lock your phone, but just don’t ‘quit’ / ‘kill’ the app by swiping up on it in the app switcher). Having said that, ‘No’, because even if the app ISN’T running in the background (say if it has been ‘killed’ or you have restarted your phone e) , once you have moved by a significant amount (approx 500 meters) the app will *automatically* launch itself into the background anyway. If you have any more questions, please feel free to get in touch via the email address on the ‘Feedback & Thanks’ section of the app 🙂
