Description of AUVideoPlayer

AUVideoPlayer is a video player that works as an Audio Unit v3 (AUv3) instrument plug-in your favorite DAW host apps such as AUM, Cubasis 3, BeatMaker 2, NanoStudio 2, GarageBand, or Audiobus 3. AUVideoPlayer can open video files stored in local, Photos, iCloud Drive, and other 3rd party cloud storage. AUVideoPlayer can output an audio signal and automatically converts the input sample rate to match the sample rate in the host app. AUVideoPlayer can also playback video files with no audio track. By enabling sync mode, AUVideoPlayer can playback a video file with the transport clock in host app for sample accurate synchronization. By running AUVideoPlayer standalone app and syncing with AUVideoPlayer plug-in in host app, you can play a video in Picture in Picture window even while closing the AUVideoPlayer plug-in window in host app. Supported Formats: MP4, MOV, ..., which Apple's Files app supports You can check the development status by following the Twitter account @AUVideoPlayer. • AMAZING 🥇🏆

The Picture in Picture feature is amazing and essential! Thank you!! 🙏
  • Basic but fits my need

It is a very basic player that syncs with the host app playback, in my case Cubasis 3. I write music to video a lot and this is awesome to get a rough scratch idea. I wouldn’t trust that it is frame accurate to sync my final composition, but it is good for getting a rough music idea down to a video on the go. I write on my laptop normally using Cubase Pro 11 but this app makes Cubasis 3 a great music scoring scratch pad.

It has a basic layout: play, sync to host, import video, and that’s it. It will load the audio track of the video as well. It has no website or additional info (personal grip), I like to know about who I am buying from. My main grip is sometimes the video playback stutters.

    Developer Response

Thanks for your great review! To investigate the stuttering issue, it would be great if you can send me the bug report with the video via Twitter DM or email.

  • This could be a game changer!

I’ve tested the player in a multitude of different ways, and while there are some major limitations at this juncture, this app is freakin’ amazing! Voiceovers in AUM alone is so worth the price. The developer has stated there is more to come and I think if they can make it more friendly with the DAW’s then this could up the level up the whole audio/video ability to create on the iPad in general. I think if you are here, looking at this, then you already have an idea of how you’d use it. If you a looking to justify the price, I think I paid more for coffee this morning and it’s long gone. This has the potential to change my life.
