Does what it says really well!

I love how you don't have to import the videos into the app -- it's really solid video player within an AUv3 plugin and even saves state between projects so my Loopy Pro sessions reliably have the video I loaded. I wish it had MIDI mapping support for playback control and marking and triggering parts of the video for a live chopping/remixing of videos.

Not working

Whenever I try to play a video, it just sounds normal. There is no difference in the audio when I use an AU. And even when I open GarageBand, it doesnโ€™t sync.

Essential tool if you are serious about syncing video

Last Halloween a world wide collective of musicians from the IPad music makers AudioBus Forum collaborated on a new score for the classic horror movie Vampyr. I used this app inside AUM to live score my contribution to the soundtrack. Very, very pleased with the result. It made what could have been a tricky task very easy and creative. A great app!

AMAZING ๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿ†

The Picture in Picture feature is amazing and essential! Thank you!! ๐Ÿ™

Itโ€™s what Iโ€™ve wanted for years

I purchased AU Video Player a few months ago and realised the potential that the app had. As a musician and a video creator I wanted the opportunity to create a piece of video and then score it in a music DAW like Cubasis, GarageBand or Nanostudio 2, but couldnโ€™t find anything. I approached Hiroshi and asked for the ability to be able to see my video in the host DAW while working on another midi or audio track. Hiroshi began to experiment, included me in the beta testing and here you have it in version 2, PinP support. I can now score to my films on my IPad. Result. Hiroshi is so attentive to the needs of his customers too. Thank you so much Hiroshi for this great app.

Updating to 5

I gave 4 originally, but you have responded quickly with the two important updates to be able to loop and now access photo library. So, now I can really make better use of this very user-friendly and accessible app ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

Response from developer

The loop feature is added in v1.1.0.

Basic but fits my need

It is a very basic player that syncs with the host app playback, in my case Cubasis 3. I write music to video a lot and this is awesome to get a rough scratch idea. I wouldnโ€™t trust that it is frame accurate to sync my final composition, but it is good for getting a rough music idea down to a video on the go. I write on my laptop normally using Cubase Pro 11 but this app makes Cubasis 3 a great music scoring scratch pad.

It has a basic layout: play, sync to host, import video, and thatโ€™s it. It will load the audio track of the video as well. It has no website or additional info (personal grip), I like to know about who I am buying from. My main grip is sometimes the video playback stutters.

Response from developer

Thanks for your great review! To investigate the stuttering issue, it would be great if you can send me the bug report with the video via Twitter DM or email. โ€จโ€จThe development status is available on Twitter, @AUVideoPlayer.

This could be a game changer!

Iโ€™ve tested the player in a multitude of different ways, and while there are some major limitations at this juncture, this app is freakinโ€™ amazing! Voiceovers in AUM alone is so worth the price. The developer has stated there is more to come and I think if they can make it more friendly with the DAWโ€™s then this could up the level up the whole audio/video ability to create on the iPad in general. I think if you are here, looking at this, then you already have an idea of how youโ€™d use it. If you a looking to justify the price, I think I paid more for coffee this morning and itโ€™s long gone. This has the potential to change my life.

I am pleased it is now possible to compose music to video directly in Aum...so well done developer. Please continue to develop functionality and keep those 5 star reviews combining in ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽฉ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฆ„ Limbic
