I want my parks pass ☹️

I originally downloaded the app after seeing a TikTok ad about an app where if you walked enough, you’d eventually earn a National Parks Pass. I was really excited about this app and referred a ton of people to it. Obviously, I am pumped about the trees being planted but I was also really excited about having this goal of the parks pass. It’s been a little over a year since I downloaded and I’m so close to the points required for the parks pass and… they don’t offer it anymore as a reward. That was really disappointing since I spent the past year working toward it.

Furthermore, I’ve hated since the beginning that if you don’t plant a tree as soon as you hit 10K steps, then any extra steps in that time don’t count toward anything. I thought turning on auto tree planting would fix that but it just plants the trees for you after you hit the claim button and that’s actually caused more problems because it started a second mini island away from my tree island so it’s totally disorganized.

I’ll keep using the app at this point since I do like getting to help the environment, but I just wanted to say I am disappointed by the app because it has so much more potential.

Fun way to keep yourself moving.

I have a few pay-to-walk apps and this one is my favorite. You don’t make much from any of them and even less here. There are some things to buy which is mostly just discounts. But what makes this stand out is what your steps automatically turn into: a real planted tree. That happens separate from using the steps to buy things, so it’s not like you have to chose between a discount or funding a tree. In that way the steps kind of count as double. This seems to be legit, and I love helping out in that little way. But the app also makes it fun by giving you little digital trees and letting you build your own island. The more you walk the more digital trees you get, which helps visualize the real trees you’re actually funding. Hopefully they’ll keep adding options for your digital world like more tree varieties or waterfalls or animals or something, but the best thing about this is not just inundated with ads. It’s actually enjoyable being on the app. Just remember to claim your digital tree after the 10,000 steps (or whatever the tree you pick costs) because it won’t count your steps beyond until you do.

Great app - needs a widget

Fantastic app, encourages walking and personal health while rewarding you with the ability to plant trees in real life. Some are only worth “0.2 trees” meaning you need to plant five for a real tree, while others (cacao and banana) cost more steps (less relatively to 5 of the others) but allow you to plant an entire tree with just 48k steps.

I love this app. My only complaint, which is more of a suggestion, is that I always forget to check my progress. Notifications are not something I love, but would turn on if this app had them. In my opinion, a widget would be far more useful AND would help promote the app to others! Imagine every time you look at your Lock Screen people beside you see “12,256 more steps to plant a banana tree” or something similar. This would be a fantastic way to promote your app while allowing users to make the most of their steps. Also don’t see it interfering with your business model at all since there is already a weekly limit of trees you can plant. It may cause an influx in planted trees as people restart their step counts more frequently. But even if it was a onetime or monthly subscription of a reasonable amount, I still think people would pay a small fee to access notifications and a widget.

Just a suggestion, otherwise this app is great! I recommend it to everyone I can 😉

Great for if you walk a lot and want to help!

I’m extremely passionate about making any change I can to help out with climate disasters like deforestation, and I just happen to walk a lot for my job anyway. I think it’s fun that you can create your own island, decorate it, and choose which sort of tree to plant on there too. My favorite thing about this is that your number of steps doesn’t erase and start over the next day if you don’t get on the app to collect your stuff. Once you have enough steps to plant a tree, no matter what day it is, you can come back, plant it, get your points, and then build up for the next day again. I understand that the process of replanting forests is more complicated than “each time you plant a tree on the app a real tree gets planted” like some other people claim to do, so I think this is a good solution that will save you money if you walk a lot and use your points to buy their deals, plus, you’re helping real reforestation over time!

Amazing Cause!!

I really like how easy it is to help with reforestation by simply just walking. I also run so it helps me increase my steps to planting a tree. If anyone has a job that requires them to be on their feet all day and walking too this is definitely the app to use! Knowing I’m contributing to helping make our plant more green encourages me to walk more or run longer distances. The only criticism I have is for the Tree Valley. When wanting to move around plants or decorations for your personal island of trees it is very touch-sensitive so trying to select one tree might have you select another tree instead of the one you originally wanted. Even when trying to carve out or remove the terrain it is sensitive to where I can’t design the layout how I would like because it will over exaggerate or under exaggerate what I would like to add or remove. It gets frustrating when trying to design the layout due to the touch sensitivity since I can’t exactly decorate the way I want to. Other than that, I have no other issues and will continue using this app!

Scam! No customer service! Steals money!

At first I truly enjoyed this app bc I thought I was doing good for the world. I happened to be browsing their plant selection that you can purchase and when I did there is a button at the bottom that says “buy now”, that accidentally got pressed and it immediately took money from my account, which I didn’t even link my bank card, and when I tried to press cancel order a message came up saying “sorry technical issues contact customer support” when I did that it took me no where.
So I went to the app and tried to get in touch with customer service and there is a spot to “chat with us” and all it is is a bot that gets you nowhere. I explained my situation to the bot and it said that someone will be in touch with me in a few DAYS! And that still hasn’t happened! So this morning I called a 1800 number that is on google and it took me to someone that is with a Treecard card company, has no idea how to help me with the app or getting my money back. The person also told me that the app itself has closed and is no more!! This app is a scam. You download it and it is able to obtain all ur card information and prob other sensitive data! I wouldn’t trust this app at all. I am highly not happy about this at all and will continue to let others know on other platforms as well. And I do have a high following!

Hi VeryMadWoman1234, I am so sorry to hear you were having trouble getting through to our chatbot.can you please email support@treecard.org? We can definitely help you with this! For context, it sounds like you got in touch with our card support team, we discontinued our debit card program in October which is why the agent on the line was unable to assist. Thank you for your understanding and we hope to make this right for you! We'll be looking out for your email 💚🌳

Improvements needed

The app, the idea is great and is there but I feel like the terrain limit is too low. You should be able to at least remove things if you want. So the real big problem is that I can get 20k steps in one day. But if I don’t claim it as soon as it reaches 10K. The other 10K won’t count towards a tree. Also the steps ain’t the most accurate and don’t update right away from garmin/health. The steps should be able to get over 10k and claim a tree while still adding steps or let you claim 2 trees if you reach 20k rather the the steps not counting. There is not an overlapping system. As I mention before the small terrain that you have to wait for 24 hours is not even enough, I don’t even know why is limited, I understand the tree but I should be able to remove big portions of land if I wanted to and recreate it.

Adding on also is there a way to be able to have more space, I can’t plant terrain in certain spots

5 Tree Planted So Far !

To be honest, I was a little skeptical of how simple the ads made this seem. Simply walk and plant trees? I still gave it the benefit of the doubt since my heart goes out to our planet, and the aspect of planting even just one tree per 10,000 steps is enough for me to continue using this app. They even offer a small gift (with a tiny fee) to congratulate your first 10k steps you’ve completed. Not to mention there aren’t any forced in-app purchases! In fact they do offer discounts for various eco-friendly products/services that you can see in the app. I believe you can also redeem star points that you collect when planting trees on our little virtual islands. I haven’t explored or used every feature the app has, and of course there’s always room for growth with any app, but I still recommend trying it out. You’ll be replacing trees, helping out the earth and our future! So why not? Again, it’s completely free, no forced in-app purchases. Just walk! :)

Great idea!!

I saw this app on Facebook and thought it was a great idea! Planting trees just for tracking your steps is as easy as it gets. With the stars you earn for planting trees you can do many things with them. You can use them to remove plastic from the ocean, or they have many offers you can use them towards if your interested.
I love that there are people out there working on trying to make a difference and help the planet. I am a new grandfather and I worry about what things will be like for my grandson as he gets older. Hopefully these companies help make a difference as every little bit we can do can can help heal the earth. It is so hard to not use plastic but I we try to do what we can by using laundry detergent sheets and dryer balls and whatever else I can do to cut down on it.
As for planting the trees, scientists say that would be the easiest way to combat global warming so I am in complete favor of that.
Keep up the good work and I am going to continue to get trees planted.

You have to spend money !!

The new update is so infuriating. You used to be able to plant a tree every day of the week with just your steps but now it’s been downgraded to only 4 trees a week EXCEPT if you spend money using their card or shopping from there assigned stores then you can plant 8.

It’s seriously so frustrating to see an app that allegedly is eco focused incentivize people to spend money more than walking. It’s starting to feel like greenwashed garbage. Rewarding people for taking more steps may encourage them to choose a walking route instead of driving, doesn’t cost any additional resources or purchasing unneeded items. But screw that. Now just go to sprouts and buy stuff. I’ve never seen an advertisement for this stupid app do anything but talk about how ‘all you have to do is walk’. No, all you have to do is consume. Surely the single trees your planting will offset those emissions right?

I get in the grand scheme of things this is a dumb complaint but also green washing is the worst. I used to use your card for grocery shopping and will no longer be doing so. I’ve recommended this app to many friends and am actively telling them to delete it because apparently I have nothing better to do. But seriously, what a horrible step in a bad direction. This used to be so cool.
