  • Amazing game, could be even better

I’ve been playing Pikmin bloom for quite a while now, and I must say it’s really really fun. I wish this game got the love it deserved from fans because it really is great. It’s like pokemon go but with Pikmin, but the main mechanic is footsteps instead of your location, and personally I think this works better. It’s really fun to exercise while also making progress!

I really hope they’re planning a big update when they add the Pikmin 4 Pikmin, because there are two things I think would improve the game even more: 1. A more direct connection with Apple health, since they could use other measurements for other progression mechanics and it could be really cool. And 2. Functionality with Apple Watch!! It would be amazing to just start planting flowers on my watch without pulling out my phone and seeing when they’re done and the rewards I got from planting without going through the long cutscene.

Overall, I’m happy with the game and think it’s great, but I can’t wait to see what they do with the next big update

  • Fun passive game, but absolutely trash performance

I’ve been playing this game since it launched on my iPhone 11 Pro. For the most part, it’s a pretty fun little game. It’s basically a gamified pedometer, but it has some neat features to encourage walking out and about in the world. Because it’s a passive game, there isn’t much to do; the joy comes from the exploration and seeing your personal achievements each day and week.

Unfortunately, over the past couple of months, the game has become nearly unusable. There’s 10-, 15-second freezes for every action that I do in the game. I’ve tried logging out and logging back in, deleting and reinstalling the game, everything short of wiping my phone to start over. Nothing fixes it. So what should take a minute or so to do in the game takes five or more. I used to run flowers every time I walked outside, even if was a short trip to my car in a parking lot or to the bus stop. Now, it’s not even worth it. More than half of my journey is over by the time I get the game to work.

Now that the weather is getting nicer, I’d love to play it more. Unless Niantic fixes the performance, and I don’t see that happening, then it’s going to be relegated to an “occasionally when I have time” type of game.

  • Love Pikmin Bloom! 🌱🌼

Pikmin Bloom is my favorite mobile game! I’ve been playing daily since launch in October 2021. I enjoy traveling and I adore that my little buddies are like memories of all the places I’ve been these last 2+ years. Some aspects of the game frustrate me like region locked exclusives and the heavy mushroom requirements in events that can block you from progressing as quickly as you’d like. But other than that, this game only gets better with time. It seems the developers do take into account what their users are asking for and slowly make improvements over time. One of the best additions they’ve made in the games is that we now have “bullhorns” which allows you to invite friends to help you defeat mushrooms. I have a friend who almost never leaves home so before this she couldn’t help me with mushrooms and I felt annoying asking other friends and family to go find the mushroom I’d started and join it. Now I get invitations from friends in other countries to join mushrooms and I have opportunities to obtain lovely postcards I’d otherwise never get! Adore the Pikmin franchise and this was the perfect addition! I, along with many others, hope that Ice and Glow Pikmin are in the near future of the game 🙏🧊❇️

  • Adorable, fun, better than Pokemon Go IMO

I personally enjoy this more than Pokémon Go mainly because you don’t have to constantly be on the app while walking and your steps still count towards something. I’m not a hardcore Pokémon go user for a lot of reasons and one of them is the fact that you have to be staring non-stop at your phone with your head down while walking out in public to utilize the app which I don’t do for a multitude of reasons. Pikmin Bloom is cute and I find myself continuing to be motivated to get more Pikmin, fill their hearts and send them on their journeys to get their little gifts…even if 90% of them are stickers with a letter on them. It would be cool if you could trade Pikmin, if only for the sake of obtaining a decor you like/want in exchange for a decor that your friend really wants, not for the goal of maxing out CP or anything in the way that people trade in Pokémon go, I’m not a huge fan of that. The concept of planting flowers around your neighborhood and anywhere you go when you walk is so wholesome and feels more rewarding than just collecting stuff.

  • Pikmin Go

Every time someone asks me what this game is, I tell them it’s basically Pokémon Go, but with Pikmin instead. And it is, but I actually enjoy this game a lot more than I did Pokémon Go. The biggest difference is that the main focus is on the steps you take, making it a great exercise motivator. But the other thing I like about it is that you don’t have to go to specific places to get the different Pikmin (I believe Thomas Sanders made a joke about traveling halfway across the world to get an Arcticuno…) You do have to go to different places to get some of the more special Pikmin, but it’s general places that should be near most people such as bakeries, salons, and Ramen places. The other thing I like about that aspect of the game is that you don’t have to constantly have the app open to find the Pikmin either, you simply walk around and it saves the Pikmin that you find for you to go collect whenever you have time. The one complaint that I have is that there’s only one way to earn coins, which is through planting flowers, and it’s very slow. I’d say on average I earn about 8 coins a day and the cheapest thing in the store is about 100 coins so… it takes a while to earn enough to do anything useful with them. I understand that games have to make money somehow, but as someone who really doesn’t have cash to spend on mobile games, it’s pretty frustrating. Overall though, it’s a great game and I love walking places now instead of dreading it.

  • Absolutely Pleasant

From when I first started Pikmin Bloom, I was enraptured by its charm and personality. It has nestled its way into my daily routine. This app works so well for me and what I need. I’ve needed motivation to get out more, and I’ve been exploring my new city after moving. From constantly planting, growing, and feeding my little Pikmin friends, I look forward to the new adventure each day brings. While I have played other AR games, I find this more than any other is a pleasant motivator to go on walks and explore. While there are times I stop and interact with AR elements in the world, much more of my time is spent actually just moving. I adore the little journal entries at the end of each day. There is a spot for little notes and it compelled me to write a haiku to remember the day by. Sometimes it’s about a novel interaction from the day, and other times it’s about my admiration for my little Pik friends. This app has brought me so much joy and warmth. I can only hope that others will find the same elation I have with Pikmin Bloom.

  • Almost perfect… just a few things they could add/change

I really do love Pikmin Bloom, in fact I have gotten others to join me in it and it is fun to destroy mushrooms together and send postcards back and forth. The things I wish were different are that I wish you could send friends things other things besides postcards (and that don’t cost actual money) like I had extra mushroom tickets or an over abundance of nectar that I would have loved to have been able to share the wealth. Also, although I enjoy joining other random people on their mushroom adventures, I wish I could send friend requests to my fellow mushroom hunters and get to know more people in my area via the app! I mean, it’s supposed to be a social game, right? I would also love it if gaining coins was a little easier, I don’t need to drown in coins, but I feel like it is beyond hard to get them without paying for them. Those things would make the game perfect.

I do appreciate the daily free packs and the new challenges to get stuff. Keep it up!

  • I’m a fan

Been playing for a few years, love collecting all the different types so pickmin, my fav are the holiday ones. Halloween especially! This app makes walking a little more fun and sometimes pushes me to walk and move more. I love the quick little reflection it does at the end of the day. Select a face that fits the mood of the day- happy, sad, or neutral. You can add a pic or a few, and if you’re in the mood you can write a little bit. If not no worries, and it records your steps at the end of the day! I love to journal and have kept one most of my life, but for someone who doesn’t journal this could be a great way to get into it or try it out to see if you like it! An Apple Watch or Fitbit make the app a lot better- I think they’re more accurate then my phone @ counting steps.
Only thing i would like to change: Would love it if I was able to add the people who join me when I’m destroying mushrooms to my friends. Idk why that’s not an option. And cuter free clothes and avatar accessories… but mainly the adding friends thing.

  • Kills time, maybe encourages more walking

It is a nice little app. I first was hooked on it until I hit my 300 Pikmen limit. Then I was MIA from the game for several months. Got into it again because I am walking a lot more again. Trying to do over 20,000 steps per day. Anyway one annoying game behavior is the game telling me I am moving too fast to plant any flowers. The problem is I am literally standing still. Does this too when I am at a parking garage and it flips back and forth thinking I am at one side of the freeway one second, and back in my real position the next moment. Besides that, the game does try to keep active users engaged with events. The reward is getting special Pikmens. Which forces me to get rid of ones in my roster already.

Also would be great to tap and skip the animations.

Be excellent to be able to dismiss the entire squad of Pikmin except the one that must be with you. Especially for preparing for Mushroom expeditions.

  • An amazing game turned awful overnight

While myself and my partner have loved this game since day one, and spent many many dollars on in game purchases- we are leaving the game until they decide to make changes that allow expeditions to be suitable for users that do not live in densely populated areas. Mushroom challenges which used too take less than one minute now take up to 20 days to complete. Mushrooms have increased from 10s of thousands of HP to millions with no scaling of existing pikmin or challenge rewards. This is sickening to say the least. A once great game has turned in to an unusable product over night, and I’ve seen this opinion shared by EVERY SINGLE PLAYER that I follow online. HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of DAY ONE players have spoken out against this change, and niantic has unreceptive.

Having 100%d pikmin 1-3, I think a solid approach would’ve been making very large, dangerous “boss” creatures with these mega HP bars. This invites collaboration, cooperation, and the sort of multiplayer niantic was aiming for. These challenges could have increased requirements and increased rewards. Mushrooms, challenges which in the mainline pikmin games are basically slimes, taking 20 days, though, is absolutely beyond comprehension.

PLEASE FIX THIS. If the change becomes properly rebalanced, and a thought out implementation of the current challenge system is put into play, this game could easily become one of the best niantic has ever made.
