Reviews of The Prime Machine

  • Fantastic app for corpus linguistic learning/work, super helpful!

I’ve been using this app for my corpus LNG learning and other applied linguistics project for over years, and having this app finally available on App Store is just making life easier! The mobile version of tPM works just as perfectly, if not better bc it’s portable, as Mac version. Very neat, convient and straightforward layout with various functions. Love the built in corpora! It’s useful and it’s logic is a bit different when I wanna learn how to distinguish between different words to use them correctly in terms of collocation. That said, when I have a specific word that I want to make into a ‘phrase’, I look into Ozdic; however, Ozdic can’t tell me when a word is suitable to make two collocations, in the context I’m in, which one should I choose. When occasion like this hits, tPM is my life saver lol. That’s also what the game mode of it is for! But my fav function is DIY corpus!! I’ve been using it for different linguistic projects. IMO what makes this app superior than some other corpus tool I’ve tried is that it enables me to build corpus and sub-corpora under it! Dude thats insane 😭 love it! Anyways! Super recommend if you’re an English learner, especially when you’re a linguist/linguist-to-be!
