Description of PetLink Pro

The PetLink Pro app is for US Animal Professionals (ACOs and Shelter staff) to use in the field. When Animal Professionals find a lost pet, they can use PetLink Pro on their phones to look up owner details via the pet’s microchip number and submit a found pet report to PetLink. PetLink will contact the owner to let them know their pet has been found and set up reunification. You can put the microchip number into PetLink Pro on your phone by keypad or speak the number in. You can also use the camera to capture the microchip number from the LCD display of a microchip reader. Using the camera makes it much faster to transfer the 9- or 15-digit microchip number from the chip reader to the search function of PetLink. It also reduces typing errors. PetLink Pro will search for owner details first in PetLink, then in PetLink’s Backtrack system and finally in the AAHA Pet microchip look up tool. PetLink Pro will help save the lives of lost animals. The quicker a pet is returned to their owner, the greater their chance of survival. PetLink Pro allows US Animal Professionals in the field to contact the owners of lost pets as soon as they have read the pet’s microchip number. There is no need to call PetLink, no need to use a computer to look up details. Animal Professionals can use PetLink Pro to submit a found pet report to PetLink in 4 easy clicks. PetLink will then notify owners via SMS, phone and email, that their pet has been found and organize reunification. If a lost pet is found by an Animal Professional and that pet is registered in PetLink, then PetLink Pro will show a photo of the pet, if available, to confirm identification. PetLink Pro will also show medical details, if available, for the pet, for example if a dog is diabetic and needs regular insulin, this information will be clearly shown. This will be beneficial for the health of all lost pets. PetLink is part of Datamars PetLink is a leader in pet identification and reunification. We create a lifelong link between people and pets. • why can’t we change the info for our own pets

downloaded this just to ask why we can’t track our own pets? my fiancés cat was chipped under a dif company and they have an app he can use to track him himself. i would love if there was one for pet owners to use before we would have to claim the cat missing. be more convenient for us and staff id assume, who deal with missing animals all day. also i used to be able to have access and now it’s for pros? why the change? no explanation? i was told to use this app by my vet and now it isn’t even downloadable, then i come on here to find out it’s been switched to vets only? i’d love to have had a notification or something. update: i realize and understand mine did not come with a tracking option, BUT i need to be able to change her photos and my address myself without a vet trip. esp since a vet literally gave this option to me and it was taken away and switched up for no reason, make ur own app for pros lol lemme have my cats info on here
  • Microchip information

A microchip is NOT a tracking device. I repeat, a microchip is NOT a tracking device.
A microchip is implanted into your animal for proof of ownership and identification. You register your pet online through pet link. This is your pets “social security number”. Please update your information every time you move, change phone numbers or rehome your pet.
    1) do not post online for other people to see
    2) do not put the number on your pets tags, simply put “I am microchipped”
    3) add your veterinary clinics number to your pets tag.
    4) if your pet is stolen or lost please contact your microchip company and local vet clinics immediately.

While some of you may be frustrated that this app is for veterinary staff and shelter staff. Please understand that the wrong person could do a lot a mischief.
Once again a pets microchip is NOT a tracking device but a form of identification. Please contact your local veterinary clinic if you have questions.
If you are looking for a tracking device whistle is a very good one. Please keep in mind that there is no tracking device that will be implanted in your animal. All tracking devices go on a collar or harness which can be easily broken off or thrown away by the animal or a thief. You cannot legally remove a microchip.
    Sincerely,
    A vet tech.
  • Useless

Would have never had our pet chipped had I known how useless this is. So many other affordable options out there to use as f your pet gets lost. This will only work if the person has a scanning device or is kind enough to take your pet to a vet or shelter. Otherwise… waste of money!
