Lack of fisheries in the north!

Only recently downloaded the app, as just trying to get time to get back into fishing again love the layout of the app and like the features. But the distinct lack of fisheries in the north east of England is very disappointing as I know there are a lot in East Yorkshire alone which would be good to see on the app as at the moment the biggest amount of fisheries seems to be south of the Humber.

Top Customer Service

Had to re-schedule a session short notice and done with app. A team member responded quickly and changed my dates so i didn't loose my money. Super! Very easy to use app.

Doesn’t work

Select venue etc, try to book and I just get the loading icon spinning and won’t work … bring back pay the bailiff on the bank method that has worked for years, trying to re-invent the wheel here.

Fishery Management

Our club was working with an online day ticket seller- they were great but went bust trying to service the anglers for a few % on booking fees. Found Catch and moved our business to this platform. Only live since March 2024 but so far it’s proven as effective from a fisheries point of view. I know there are issues getting anglers on board / signing up and navigating the site, it can only improve with time. Our club is run by volunteers, fellow anglers trying to keep the fishery in the best condition possible for all anglers. Time and effort many don’t see and even less appreciate on the ground.
Theres a lot of bad reviews here, most relate to being charged a fee, for something they see the fisheries should cover ….. that just gets passed back to members and guests. This product does give the angler options and opportunities to keep their costs down.
As a client, I’m happy, sure it could be better and having talked to the support staff, it will continue to improve.
As a volunteer running a fishery , it’s a massive improvement on trying to find outlets to sell tickets, which get lost, funds misplaced and outlets not open at 5am when someone wakes up and wants to fish.
Long review- in short - if you ain’t happy with the service, drop them a line. Then think about how the fisheries recover the costs of the alternative options.
Get a grip - it’s fishing for fun stop moaning

Catch

Personally think the whole catch idea is a great principal and an effective way to sort out where and when you’re fishing. The only thing I would change is how the booking system works, personally I think the app could be better if you just booked to be on the venue for a certain amount of time instead of booking a peg turning up and realising that everything is against you. Giving you that feeling of defeat before you’ve wet a line

Rip off designed to milk you for more money

Booking fees / needing to subscribe to avoid them is a rip off. You reply to justify it with technology in the background etc etc but this is all smoke and mirrors. Fisheries managed without your technology for hundreds of years, this app is to make the developers money and nothing else, all you do is act as a middle man in a transaction that's always worked without you. Avoid and pay the fishery directly!!

Great App!

Huge improvements on this app in recent times!

Makes it so easy for me to book without constantly ringing up or emailing all the time!

Useful

Pretty useful app, if you’re going to use it often it’s cheaper to subscribe instead of paying a booking fee every time. The only thing I don’t like it that it doesn't show your upcoming and past booking in the profile section.

Response from developer

Hi, glad to hear you found Catch useful and can see the value in our Subscription options if you are booking multiple trips. We do indeed have a "Bookings" section within your Profile/Tackle Box, which should show you any Upcoming or Past bookings that you have made through Catch. If you are having issues seeing this information or have any other questions/problems, please reach out to support@gocatch.fish and we'll do our best to help you as we do care about your experience.

Payment model is at best annoying

If fisheries want to sell their tickets via your platform and pay a fee for doing so thats up to them, you shouldnt charge a fee to the customer as well. To make it worse I’m buying 2 tickets and being charged two fees! Absolute scam and if I had any other way of purchasing tickets for this fishery I would absolutely not use the app.

Fundamentally your business model is broken. What value are you giving me as a customer for the money I’m paying? You’re providing nothing that I can’t get elsewhere for free. I can research lakes on the internet, I can contact them to check availability, I can book on without paying a fee. I’d be interested to know what you feel you’re offering me in addition for giving you my money?

Response from developer

Hi, Catch brings you convenience and certainty for your fishing trips, allowing you to plan and book in advance for your next sessions. We provide detailed information on fisheries and a secure, intuitive booking process to ensure you get on the bank with no fuss. The technology we have built (that anglers don't see) is the fishery side of technology, something that until now has been completely missing in the industry. This helps the fisheries to be more organised and effective in the day to day running of their venues. This keeps their costs down which prevents them charging more for tickets to anglers, so the net balance is there for the wider angler audience as fisheries would typically be increasing their prices far more than the small sum we charge to anglers. Our aim is to be transparent and as fair as possible to the industry, but the cost of technology as I'm sure you know is not cheap and we do need to charge, so a balance is needed to keep it fair, we are working hard to keep this balance as low as possible for everyone. I would be happy to answer any questions you have, just reach out to support@gocatch.fish with your details and I will gladly call you to explain in more detail. Remember if it's free you are the product!

Very poor

Charging fisheries to be on your site, ok, that’s fair enough, it’s a business and they are using your platform to sell tickets. Charging anglers a subscription is just plane wrong. I could just about accept a ‘booking fee’ every time you book, but not a monthly subscription.
The whole buisness plan is wrong, if it was free to the end user then you would have a good idea. With the current set up, it’s destined to fail.
Make it free to the end user or this will fail.
The site is hard to navigate and not very user friendly.
