  • Holds up pretty well!

I tried this out because I’m on a card game kick and this looked fun enough. This is my first Kemco game and it seemed like the mechanics were fun enough and the production values seemed high enough to be more than their previous releases.

The card game mechanics are competent, though you get a very slow start as you must grind for coins to pull a gacha for more cards and passive upgrades. The final decks are really fun and show some things I haven’t seen in other card battlers yet like chance cards and Usage NG cards you can’t play but have beneficial passive bonuses.

The story is ok, feels generic and forgettable but it’s a good enough vehicle for the game progression. The atmosphere is cheeky and reminds me of the Disgaea series. Not a big fan of the main characters’ designs but I have to admit they grew on me a bit.

Overall, this game took me about 40 hours to complete and I’d say I got my money’s worth. It’s definitely not Slay the Spire but if you like that kind of game and want a flavor of something different, I’d recommend giving Overrogue a try!
