Withdrawals take forever

For some reason whenever I make a withdrawal which I prefer to do on the weekend for lower network cost it seems like they won’t allow it. It takes 1-2 days, that’s absurd. Almost as if they don’t have the coins they sell to you, then have to purchase so you can self custody. Every other site you can purchase and self custody within hours. I’ve purchased thousands from these guys and will never make that mistake again.

Hi alamot - Thank you for the product feedback. We'll make sure the team sees this. We're constantly updating our product and services, and hope we can win you back someday.

A great thing!

I am new to this and have so much to learn, but glad I found the folks at Swan. I’m by no means a big time player in this but everyone I’ve dealt with at Swan treats me with respect and are happy to educate me when I ask ignorant questions. It’s been a great introduction to the Bitcoin universe.

Elegant & secure way to save in Bitcoin

Because this app is 100% focused on SAVING in just Bitcoin (not trading) it has a refreshing simplicity to it (vs the crypto exchange or cash oriented apps).
It STILL offers more options for saving in BTC than other services, including multiple custodian choices, IRAs. Most importantly it supports self-custody withdrawals to any personal BTC wallet or a multisig set of HW wallets.
Exceptional for people just starting out with Bitcoin.

Great way to buy Bitcoin Simply

The app is very simple and very straightforward. It gives you an unabridged way to buy your first $10,000 a bitcoin fee free. This saves you a lot of money and in the long run can earn you a lot of money.

I like the option to auto purchase sats, & be able to send them to my ledger automatically.

One feature I would love to have is, throughout my tenure of buying bitcoin on a one week, one month, one year, three year, five year, 10 year span, that I am able to see my overall gain or loss. Like a performance tracker!!

Also, it will be cool to see a Bitcoin DCA calculator built within the app. This will be to determine the overall performance of bitcoin if we would have invested one year ago, three years, five years, 10 years, etc.

iOS does not live up to the Swan reputation

For all the high praise of Swan as a company their iPad/iPhone App is glitchy and disappointing, like some unprofessional, untrustworthy startup. Signing up was pretty standard KYC info like other US exchanges, but then for over two days the App acted like it was hung up “processing application”. I was only approved after contacting support. I then connected a bank account and that verified immediately, but adding a second bank account caused the message “verifying bank, please wait 1-3 days”. This prohibited me from accessing anything on the App, nor could I use the previously approved bank account to buy Bitcoin… After three days of waiting and nothing changing I contact support again to inquire about the delay. I kept waiting 1 week before they finally responded simply to say I was not approved for ACH payments, and could only use Wire transfers, no further explanation. BUT the iOS App STILL has the same error message and prevents any action, 10 emails to support later, no fix! I will wash my hands of such incompetence after using the initial no-fee purchases. This exchange is not worth it because the added Wire fee I’ll have to pay to fund the account negates the savings of free BTC Send. I can confirm that Bitcoin Well and Coinbase both have cheaper options without any Wire transfer hassle. Sorry Swan, I really wanted to have a good experience! #disappointedHODLer

Very Frustrating user experience

I literally had to take off work and physically go into my bank and wire money to my account to fund it because they couldn’t figure out how to process my payment. Which is concerning because if they can’t figure out how to process payments what else are they doing wrong? I wanted to like swan because they have a great YouTube channel but I honestly can’t recommend them.

Hi Seapeah - We're sorry you had a frustrating experience. Funding can hit a snag for multiple reasons, and we do what we can to advise and assist. If you're still experiencing issues, contact us at swan.com/support

I signed up with great hopes

I downloaded the app. Signed up. Had to provide email, verify, mobile number, verify, set 2FA, verify, SSN, name, home address (everything for KYC). Had my account created, welcome email and everything. Then I supplied my Bank Account Number and Routing to fund my Swan Bitcoin account via an ACH transfer. Then came the surprise. Account was blocked and the next day closed for good. Received 2 emails with contradictory explanations. One with no explanation claiming a “security assessment” and a second one claiming they are not taking new customers from TX. What??? Could have indicated that BEFORE taking all my private, sensitive information as soon as I typed TX!!! What a lack of transparency. Very disappointing!

Hi Stella - We support new customers in Texas! We found there was a bug that was incorrectly sending that email and have since fixed the issue. We sincerely apologize for the confusion. As for the security assessment email, that was triggered by our automated risk monitoring system. During signup, something flagged your account for additional review. We'd be happy to take another look at your account if you're still blocked. Please create a new ticket at swan.com/support and reference your last ticket. Your feedback is heard loud and clear on improving our processes and transparency, and we hope you'll give us another try.

Not honest!

Bad experience! I signed up because they advertised no fee and no spread for new accounts for the first $10k purchase. After going through the trouble of KYC and linking to your bank, you’re then limited to buy only $500/ day. But what is worst is that after a few weeks Swan closed my account for no reason and said I can’t withdraw my purchased coins for 60 days! Their excuse is to avoid charge backs. Had I known this I’d never do business with them! Dishonest! Is it just for phishing?!

No instructions for the app!

I signed up for swan because it was recommended . I couldn’t get my dca to work correctly despite carefully reading the instructions and funding the account.
And as a result wasn’t able to buy before the huge price jump.
I finally ended buying buying lump sum but now I am having trouble withdrawing it for self-custody. Which is where the main problem and why I am giving this app one star.

All the help FAQs for withdrawal are for the website only! There are no instructions on how to withdraw using the app. This leads me to believe that while you can set up an account using the app and buy using the app, withdrawing your bitcoin requires you use a computer and their website.

What good is an app that does have all the needed features?
