Great tool for training

The AlbonApp is fantastic because of the variety of workouts, full-season planning capabilities, resources, attentive nature of Jon and team when responding to questions, and — of course — the results. My fitness is already changing for the better. I can’t wait to see how much more I’ll improve in the coming year.

Flexible coaching and full of great workout ideas

It’s my opinion that we get the most out of training when we listen to our bodies… some days, we might have a hard session planned but wake up feeling crummy, or life gets in the way. I love that with this app, you set all your goals and are given the training sessions to do in a week that will help you reach these goals, but you have the flexibility to move them around. I learned tons of great workouts and techniques from this app, too, that I feel made a huge difference in my running. Would recommend!

Solid Gold

To be able to follow tried and tested training plans from a world champ is amazing! Put in a race date, and the app plans out my entire training schedule running up to the event. I love how I can adapt it to suit my available time or fatigue levels in any given week, and how each session has multiple workouts to choose from that achieve the same training goal, so I’m never getting bored of repetition. This is a strategy, a methodology, a proven process, that takes the uncertainty and worry out of planning my training.

Very poorly executed app

The app doesn’t seem to offer anything that isn’t done better by other apps (or a combination of that all interact) that are available for a fraction of the price. There is some training recommendations (or training plan) but it doesn’t seem to scale based on current volume but rather you select commitment level which determines plan, or that’s the way it appears (I got errors every time I tried to enter a workout). The work outs seem good and there is good descriptions of the purpose of the workout but get any cookie cutter standard training plan you’ll get the same.

Doesn’t seem to be a good way to track training completed. But again maybe this would be easier to see if I didn’t get errors.

The above items are all coupled with a clunky user interface. No ability to sync with your watch. Errors that force you to restart losing entered data. Honestly if this app was 1/100th the price I’d still think it was overpriced. If it didn’t have Albons name on it, I would have never paid upfront with out a free trial. If you are interested in the app I recommend waiting until they get ir sorted out. Seems like it was out of beta way too early.

Thanks for taking the time to provide some feedback. Firstly, it would be great if we can get some extra information on the error messages you say you are experiencing. We haven’t received an automatic error notification or an in-app bug report. If you could either log a bug using the app or email further details to contact@albon.app that would be much appreciated. As for how the app generates a training plan based on your priority races and weekly commitment level to training; I am sorry you haven’t enjoyed the benefits of such a system. AlbonApp is a tool to help athletes plan their training, taking into consideration how they feel. While some people may trust all planning to computer algorithms, my belief is that the athlete (with the right knowledge and tools) can make better and more informed decisions on what is best for them. I am pleased to hear you have enjoyed some of the workouts and features of the app. Now that all the workouts I do are contained within the app, I am using it daily to prepare for my race season. In fact, I use the app to program all my training including the season plan and day-to-day training tools such as the follow along videos for strength workouts. Great App

I have been using the APP for over a month now and love the way I can select the desired workout from a daily menu. The workout goal is always the same but having a choice allows you to decide how you get there on any given day 👍🏼

The best workout app available

Being coached by someone with Jon Albon’s credentials is inspiring, but the Albon App takes it to another level. I’ve worked with Jon for 2 years and have been using a version of the app for about 8 weeks now. Working with Jon is phenomenal because of his breadth of knowledge, his commitment to the craft of OCR and the sport of running, and the obvious pleasure he takes in helping others improve. The App multiplies the Albon effect because of the variety of workouts it puts at your fingertips. It’s very easy to set up your weekly and seasonal schedules to help you peak properly for races, but for me the genius of the App is in the day-to-day. Everyday I can choose from a number of workouts which one will be the best for me given what I did the day before and how I’m recovering. For example, on a day I’m scheduled to do a tempo run, there will be 4 or 5 tempo runs to choose from, each at three levels of intensity, plus a cross training option if I need a day off from running. The same is true for all the other workouts as well. The grip strength workouts are particularly varied and effective. This optionality keeps the workouts fresh and injuries at bay. Then there’s the how-to videos and Jon’s feedback and strategic insights. Having read a number of books and looked at multiple programs, I really think the AlbonApp is unparalleled and anyone interested in improving in the worlds of OCR, mountain running, or both, should try it.

Best training app out there!

Lucky enough to use this app for the last few months! The best trail runner in the world designing every single session all you have to do is fit them to work your schedule! With super tips, videos and heaps of progressions along the way it’s an ideal way to really make sure each session counts, keeping you motivated to train and tick off the sessions as well as giving you the freedom to do what works for you.
