  • Great with a few frustrations

I love how easy it is to use, and the overall results I get. I do sometimes have to “tweak” a bit using Apple Photos or another program, but I use this as my first line of defense. I think the subscription price is great, and since we can only take one or two dive trips a year, I love the fact that it’s monthly rather than yearly. My biggest frustration is that it’s hard to keep track of what I’ve already color corrected, and what still needs to be done. I record the video on my phone and edit on my iPad. When I click to download a video to correct, the app often jumps to a different video, and doesn’t seem to keep them organized by when they were taken (they seem in random order), so order doesn’t match up to my photos app. When I download the corrected version, it doesn’t keep it together with the original. The only way I can get them back together is to manually change the date/time on the corrected version for each item. This is very time consuming, but the only way I have found to be sure I haven’t missed any files.
  • quick and easy color adjustment, on the way to 5 star

This is a great app that allows quick and easy color correction of your underwater photos in your Apple Photo library. The adjustments are beautiful. I recommend going to the preferences to set to save the new images back to the same folder. This app is ideal for quick color fixes on site or post trip, and has nice adjustment options as well. It’s getting close to perfect for what I need, as an amateur with an underwater camera. The interface is easier than Apple Photo, and much cheaper and less fiddly than Lightroom. And compared to the costs of scuba diving: camera, tanks, guides, and travel, it’s really inexpensive. I’m very happy to have found it.

There is room for improvement, however. When editing the images at home after a trip, I find that when saving the colour-corrected images back to Apple Photo, the metadata is lost. All except the file name, so now the file name is e.g. MVI_3462_Edited.MOV. So the date, location, keywords, caption, title are all gone. It would be great if this could be fixed somehow.
  • Limited

I tried the program. It has a quick water filter applied and also gives you some basic adjustments to fine tune the filter to your liking. It only picks from photos and not from any folder. It worked with the first 4 images I tried and now every jpg photo it picks only produces a white image after you apply the filter. It just plain stopped working. I will just continue to manually adjust the undewwater images and video. Sorry but this just does not cut the mustard for those that need to or want to adjust their own underwater images and videos. I wouldn't bother with the paid version if the unpaid version can't do more than 4 pics.
  • Magic

It’s like magic. The colors pop right out! Amazing!!
  • Would like to preserve original meta data

This is a nice solution to underwater color correction, but I HATE that the new video has today's date and time.

If not for that, this would get 5 stars from me. It's quikc, pretty intuitive and I love the granularity of the control of adjustments.
  • eh

So editing & saving the photos is super easy.. BUT i cant seem to be able to edit them or do anything else with them after they are saved. i.e.) i cant edit them in imovie after saving them, it just goes back to the original version of the video.

    Developer Response

iMovie will behave that way with videos edited with any app. It always ignores the edited video and imports the original video. The only solution I know of is to change your video saving preference in AquaColorFix to save a new video instead of editing the existing video. After you do that and save a video, AquaColorFix will create a new video file each time you save. The new video will not have the original video associated with it, so if you import the new video into iMovie you won't have this problem.
  • videos cost money

no way to use app without paying

    Developer Response

You can use the app with unlimited photos for free. All of our subscriptions have free trial periods if you would like to try out videos for free.
  • App doesn't let you open any folder

The app doesn't allow you to open photos from any folder. In fact, I can't even find the location of the 3 photos that the app is seeing. I'd love to try this app, but I'll delete it now because even when I moved my photos to the folder the app wants, it won't open them.
  • Lack of photo organization

I’m giving this app 3-stars only because there is no option to categorize photos by date when you upload to correct the color. I do a lot of diving so have corrected many photos, and it takes a ridiculous amount of time to cull through all of them & identify the most recent ones uploaded to correct. Have emailed the developer twice to inquire about how to delete the cache of old photos and have not received a reply. Otherwise the color correction is great if you have the time.
  • Major flaw: Cannot Edit photos imported from Dive Cameras

Even with pro subscription, there is no ability documented to edit photos imported to ipad. This renders the app and subscription useless to most users.

There should be very clear description of the limitations of this app and some kind of description of how to use it.

This app was a complete waste of my time.

    Developer Response

Photos imported from dive cameras can be edited in AquaColorFix as long as they are in your Photo Library. If your imported photos are in Files or some other location, add them to your Photo Library and they will appear in AquaColorFix.
