Love it
Limited Usefulness
On the positive side, the write-ups on the cocktails are refreshingly detailed. And the layout of those details is perfect. But these things of little use when you want to explore new cocktails to drink.
Ultimately, it might have potential with a lot of additions. But it’s not worth a paid app as it stands now. I don’t see myself using this when much better, more comprehensive, and searchable options exist for free online.
Response from developer
**UPDATE: Hello again Sir Bumpy! I'm very pleased to let you know that Imbiblia now has a search feature! This allows you to filter all recipes based on the ingredients you want to use. Just as you mentioned in your review... now there is no more forcing you to click around until you find a cocktail for which you have ingredients! You can even filter by as many parameters as you'd like based -not just on ingredients- but also method, glassware, garnish, and of course recipe name. I hope you enjoy the new feature, and if you have any further feedback, I'd love to hear it! Please feel free to reach out on Instagram where I am currently doing most of my correspondence regarding feedback.** Hello Sir Bumpy, Thank you for checking out Imbiblia and for your thoughtful feedback. Your main concerns anticipate features that I am currently building! Search will be released later this month, along with more recipes. The selection will certainly grow by quite a lot in coming months. I wanted to release this 'slim' version just to get the ball rolling and get feedback on format and layout before populating it with a truly comprehensive number of recipes. Each recipe, as you noted, is meticulously researched, and this of course takes quite a lot of time. The current selection is geared as a sample of things to come: Historical cocktails unknown to the modern cocktail world, modern classics, and originals never before seen from bartenders all over the globe. I've been using the Imbiblia Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/imbiblia/) to correspond with bartenders on recipes they'd like showcased and feedback on this early version of the platform. If you'd like to discuss Imbiblia further I am always available via DM's on instagram, and I'd love to hear from you if you have further feedback. I suggest clicking on "IMBIBLIA" at the top while in-app and you can read my master plan and get a look at a big feature that will be a part of v2.0. I have to add, this initial release *is* primarily geared toward bartenders who need a quick reference. I was a bartender for many years and so I set out to first make the tool I always wanted. But ultimately, if the appreciation for Imbiblia continues to grow and I can keep working on it, I have designed a system that will help everyone explore new recipes that are curated in accordance to one's personal palate. But of course all this is quite a lot of work, and unfortunately right now it's just me doing all the coding, icon drawing, research, photography and marketing. Again, I want to thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review with clear ideas about how Imbiblia can improve. Such feedback is worth everything, and I take it very seriously. Imbiblia may not meet your expectations now, but I assure you that it will continue to evolve and I will work hard to make Imbiblia the best recipe app possible. All the best & Cheers, Jean-Marc
Mixologist must have
Imbiblia is truly the “Bible of Drinks.” Perfectly researched and structured the app suites the ambitious at home cocktail maker or any restaurant/bar looking to provide their staff with a wealth of knowledge.
I would highly recommend Imbiblia to industry folk and any curious mind with its structured layout and user friendly platform.
