  • Smooth and pretty easy to use

This has been a good introduction to the IFD 440. My plane has a GNS430 and if that fails I’ll look to switch to one of these. You can get a good view of how it will operate in the plane, so it helps me get an idea of the differences between this and the GNS430.
  • Can now practice using the IFD 440 in X-Plane!

Worked with both X-Plane 11.55 and X-Plane 12 RC4. Since I don't own a plane, practicing at home on a simulator is beyond valuable. This will greatly impact my choice of rentals as up until now, I could only practice on Garmin avionics via a simulator at home. Thank you so much for developing this!
  • Few nice features but not a utility

Its fun when you first open it up and are able to change com frequencies on the simulator by tapping the app on your iPad. Its also somewhat interesting to open the Maps page in the app to see your location matching on the iPad and the sim. I’ve seen some complaints that you can’t push the flight plan from the app to the sim, but I don’t think that is necessary since the point is to use the app as you would in the plane - but the problem is that this app does not drive the CDI in the sim. You cannot practice IFR without needles to follow - you are unlikely to use it that way in the actual airplane. I can’t imagine flying an ILS staring at the GPS rather than the needles. The non-XP app is still very valuable in learning all the features of the Avidynes.
