I would say the xbot is decent but needs a reliable tracking system for games when you are focused on one person and also I would say add a volleyball mode, and also jersey number even though I know it is in beta just doesn’t work at alltorain87
Needs Work
I purchased the Xbot Go Chameleon for use with 11 v 11 soccer games and the unit has a hard time keeping up with the action. Too many times it falls behind the ball and is missing crucial plays when players are moving at an accelerated pace.
The unit also seems to get distracted very easily by crowds surrounding any side of field or if another soccer ball is detected in the field of view. The last game I tried using the Chameleon in, the camera kept getting stuck on a second team warming up to the right side of field. I got so frustrated I took the camera down because it was becoming a distraction for me.
It might be that other sports camera use a cropped wide angle image to follow the action where this is physically moving based on separate AI camera. I don’t know for sure but just speculating.
I had used it in a smaller scenario for Soccer practice and it seems to handle that better but for bigger tournaments or busier games I’m not sure this will be able to keep up.
I’m hoping these things can be addressed with some future firmware updates and called out specifically if or when improved, otherwise the return on investment might not be realized.Show lessThe70sCount
Good idea but needs work
This app along with the gimbal is a good start
The following need to be addressed to make it better
1) allow for higher resolution recording. 1080 limits the quality for post production
2) allow manual zoom when recording games
3) set boundaries for the tracker to work within
4) allow mirroring of the screen to another device, like GoPro does. It’s difficult to see what you are recording when your phone is 10-13’ high. The tracker may not be capturing everything. This is when the remote will help to adjust tracking.
5) configuration should be testable to make sure it is setup correctly. For example, the recording angle may be too large or small and you won’t know until it’s too late when you are recording.

Doesn’t track the ball
Hey guys you need to update the Ai algorithm. It’s not tracking the ball. I am manually rotating it to focus on the ball… which defeats the purpose of an AI software doing it for me.

It’s fairly good
I have used the xbot exclusively for recording youth basketball games. To make this work you need to hope your kid is playing in a venue that has space for you to stand at mid-court. If you lucky and can do that you have to be prepared to redirect the bot when it gets distracted by spectators and the referee. The camera is very slow in capturing a fast break or a steal the results in a single player streaking down the court against the grain of the motion. The most maddening inconsistency, however, is the fact that it randomly mutes my recordings even though I turn the mute function off before filming. I am hoping this newly updated software will address this shortcoming. Other than that it works fairly well.Show lessKerkwards
Product doesn’t work!
Constantly drops out, causing a new video to be created. You then need to save all the videos in an editing tool to combine them. You have to constantly monitor the gimbal to make sure it is following the play or even working. Since the last update, sometimes there is no sound. Wish I never purchased the gimbal!! Useful but not reliable :(
I was a proponent of the device/app as I used it for a few AAU 11u basketball games. But this weekend the device just got stuck on a few staring on a single location and did not follow the game flow like it should have.
I have updated to 3.0 and hope this is improved. I was hesitant to returning the device after this weekend. :(.Show lessEnigma90025
Bluetooth Disconnection
I’m on version 2.4.4 build 93. The device disconnects from the phone. This seems to be a common issue with previous versions of the app. It’s really annoying that I have to remove the device from my Bluetooth and add it again for it to work. Please fix this.Degarmo187
