sugar (game) User Reviews

Game is a good concept

The concept is great, but it’s very minimalist with the design, leaving a very “unsatisfied” feeling by beating each level. I got to level 23 beating each level on the 1st try, but that’s not because it’s too easy of a game. I’m just really good at games. It’s perfect difficulty and the cleverness ramps up at level 17 with the single grain cup challenges. I really do love the cleverness of that aspect. Only the game has such minimal “polishing” that it’s simply boring to play no matter how good or how bored you are. And the music doesn’t help add any excitement. However, it’s the perfect amount of ads for a free game, and anyone complaining about it is simply in a bad mood or has personal problems and likes to take it out on game designers cause they have no life

Needs a pause button

I’ve accidentally pressed restart instead of switch gravity multiple times, and it makes me rage quit because just a split second of not thinking means I have to start over from scratch. At least if you put a pause menu you can put in either customization or a moved reset button. I’ve accidentally reset so many times I don’t want the app anymore, I’ve had to play one level six times because of it

Not for perfectionists!

If you are OCD or type A, this game will drive you crazy. It’s about trial and error. Very much a coder’s kind of game. If I…then those will…which would make…and then…Oops. Let’s try that again.

There are only a few that you will do immaculately the first time. There is no timer. You don’t get stars for doing it faster or neater or in fewer tries. The reward for solving any level is being able to take on the next level. You can always go back and play old levels, so that’s fun. And here’s what I love: the level is the same every single time. So if you start over it’s not like you lost your best chance because that was the optimal set up and now you’re stuck with suboptimal conditions. Nope. Do the level once, do it fifty times, same level. Nobody’s tracking how “well” you do it. It’s purely pass/fail. No GPA. As you advance, fundamental rules change, so it might take a few times of trying out the new realities before you understand all the little things. Feel free to just let the sugar run for the first time just to become acquainted with the level and make a plan. There are lots of tips I could give, but that would rob you of the best aspect of the game: figuring it all out! Bart Bonte does it again!

Game might be ok but Tracking is not.

It says on the app store that data is USED to track you. That’s a big red flag! I liked the game and played it sometimes. Then I forgot about it. Now uninstalling apps I looked to first see the apps that would track me. This one was on top of the charts. Not only does it link my data to me, but it tracks me. I don’t appreciate that at all. To top it off I left a review yesterday. Today I got a request to reevaluate my review by the developer. That is scary 😱 but also I’m going to be honest more than ever before. Don’t install it unless you feel tracking you is no big deal. We don’t like stalkers but some how this is ok?

Just like any other game that shows ads the app tracking requester is needed if you want personalised ads, but there is no need to allow this feature. If you don't agree with the tracking requester, then there are no personalised adds and no tracking at all in the app. Also there is a small one time in-app purchase if you want to remove all ads and support my free games. @BartBonte

Old Skool classic

Played Sugar and many other Bart Bonte games MANY years ago on Kongregate. ALWAYS a winner. So pleased to find this in the AppStore

Love the game

Please consider adding a “random level” option for those of us that have finished the game and would like to replay without having to go in order.
Thank you for your work it’s an amazing game!

Very cool

Is there the older game on the App Store because i would love to play it

Response from developer

Yes "sugar, sugar" is also on the app store, that one is a paid game. @BartBonte

GOOD! But one thing!

So this game is veryyy addicting. I saw this and thought it would be fun it has good levels that progressively get harder, and there are multiple components to each one. It helps you figure out the game. One bug that I noticed though, was the salt kind of dissapears when it touches the cup if it’s not the right color or if the right amount of sugar has already been reached. Over all this game has one minor bug, but it is immensely fun and addictive. Thank you developers for this amazing and fluid game!!!! 🍨🍭

Thanks for your five star review! There is no bug though, this is the intendedbehavior of the cups: - when a cup is not full it will always take any sugar, even if it is the wrong sugar (but will not count down) - when a cup is full (counter zero) it will no longer take sugar. @BartBonte

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Highly recommend, 1 of 2 games I’ve kept on my phone long enough to actually complete all the levels. Just a very well thought out game. Right when I got to the point where it started to feel repetitive a great and unexpected change to the gameplay sucked me back in! I won’t ruin the surprise, you’ll have to beat level 150 to find out!
