complete overreach privacy-wise

Sorry, I'm just not willing to be location tracked while not using the app. Other apps don't require this... why must Fuji? Don't assume that I don't know that this can be done.... laziness on the part of the dev team is all.

Fuji = great cameras, terrible software.

the software experience marrs an otherwise great brand.

Almost malware

Glad Fuji decided to finally update the Remote Camera App. The x.app is definitively an improvement. Not that is an achievement given how awfully useless the previous app was. I give the new app 3 stars because the camera setting back up function is a blessing, but only because the built in capacitor on Fuji bodies will dies after few years and the settings get reset if the camera is not used for periods of time. However, the x.app is a malware and will only work if you expose your privacy settings wide open (precision tracking, notifications, etc) even if these features are not used. This is bad dev practice and just outright patronising.

This is "FUJIFILM XApp support team" Thank you for your message. Ver.1.10 improves as follows. • The application can communicate with the camera via Wi-Fi even if the permission to access "Location" is not set. • Functions that do not require permissions to access can now be used without setting the permissions to access.

App fails to connect to wifi

The app on iPhone 14 still won’t connect to x100v even though the phone shows camera wifi is connected. All software updated.

Much Better than Older App

My X-E4 would never connect to my iPhone until I started using this app. It’ll be much faster to share my images now! My X-H2S never had a problem connecting to the old app, but now the remote control function has much less latency. I think the remote control function is limited to Program mode and doesn’t allow manual setting of the shutter speed and aperture. Hopefully that can be improved. Overall the app seems much more stable so hopefully more improvements come. This app makes the Canon app feel more outdated, which was the opposite before XApp eas released!

Sweet happy day, finally a working app!

If you have been a Fujifilm X Series user for a while, you are no doubt familiar with the TERRIBLE and frustrating remote image capture app. I think it currently sits with a 1 star rating in the App Store. I used that abomination of an app for the final time today to upgrade the firmware on my camera to 3.0, which unsurprisingly took six or seven tries before successfully upgrading. After throwing that all consuming piece of garbage in the figurative trash can, I opened this new Fujifilm X app and it is superb. The remote image capture is almost completely lag free, it is the most responsive remote image capture I’ve used through any platform actually. I was very impressed. You can finally choose image import size when storing them on your device. The geotagging system works very well. All in all it’s a huge breath of fresh air for Fuji.

Needless data scraping and lack of support

Fuji seemed to have learnt nothing from the shortcomings of their other Cam Remote app. This new app requires always-on location services, struggles maintaining connection, and doesn’t support many of Fuji’s own camera bodies (nothing prior to the X-T3). As always these days, the consumer seems to suffer while corporations rake in more profit than ever with minimal effort.

Location access shouldn't be a requirement

Location access all the time is a huge blunder, otherwise this is a really great app and a huge improvement over the previous version.

Location and Notification Requirements Sully a Solid App

Honestly this app is a good app - unlike the previous app, Fujifilm Cam Remote, it actually works! It’s easy enough to pair your camera, transfer JPEGs (unfortunately no Raw or Tiff support), use the app as a remote control or with live view. This should be a 4-5 star review, with that 5th star maybe hinging on Raw transfer. But the glaring issues (for me) are the Location and Notification requirements.

Please let me use the app without sharing my location info! I get that in order for GPS tagging to work properly the app needs constant access to your location, but I don’t want to use GPS tagging. Let me use the app with Location settings off!

Same thing with Notifications! You can’t use the app unless you have notifications turned on, which I just don’t want, no matter how useful they are.

It’s just odd that you can’t even use the app AT ALL with these intrusive settings turned off. I only want to use the image transfer and remote control functions, let me use the app the way I want. I’ll update my review as soon as they change this policy.

Thank you!!!!

I dont usually leave app reviews, but I was compelled to leave a review for this app because the upgrade from the Fujifilm Camera Remote app is 10/10.

I have a Fujifilm XT-4 and I had to do a firmware update in order to see the new bluetooth pairing menu when holding down the back button. Once I got through that actually connecting to the camera via bluetooth was pretty seamless.

The remote shutter release is awesome and even the image transfer process wasn't too bad! The app prompts you to join the local network for your camera which is so much nicer than having to try and leave the app and join the network in Settings.

Good work Fujifilm looking forward to updates!

Forces Location data to be always on

I haven’t paired my camera with the app yet, but during setup, the app asks to enable location access. I set it to only use while using the app, and it didn’t let me proceed. I set it to always use location access, continued using the app, then changed the setting back to use location access while using the app. X App went straight to a screen asking me to fix the location access again.

There’s no need for it to use my location while I’m not using the app. Please make location access optional!
