  • Now showing ads even with a paid subscription

    While I’ve had issues with the service and app for a while, I’ve stuck by it for some of the content but sorry to say no more. Including unskippable ads, some 2 minutes long, before I can watch a movie is unacceptable for a paid service. That this was done without notifying subscribers makes it even worse.

  • Don’t Waste Your Money

    I have been back and forth with Screambox customer service for a few months and nothing has been resolved. It was for a brief moment and it allowed me to pay another $6.99 and then when I went to watch a movie it told me I am not subscribed. Resolved it just to get more money from me. LOL You’ll just keep throwing money at this app and unable to use it. Do yourself a favor a find another way to watch horror movies.

  • Charged but not given a subscription

    Yeah I got charged a for a subscription and conveniently the app crashed right as I subscribed. So if I try to watch a movie it says I need to subscribe to watch it, even though I did and was charged for it, and on top of it if I go try to subscribe again it says one has already been purchased on this device. So I basically got scammed out of $7. I wish I could give this 0 stars.

    Had a ton of issues signing up for a month, but Scream Box made it right. Took a couple of weeks though.

  • Zero Stars Do Not Recommend

    I paid $6.99 for a premium membership and the app still shows that I am not signed up for premium. I spoke with Scream Box on the phone and via email with no resolution. I’m just out the $6.99 I was charged for premium but never got to use even a minute of premium. Do yourself a favor and sign up with Shudder. I’m just glad I didn’t pay for an annual plan and end up out $60.

  • Could be like shudder… could

    With the exception of the addition of Frogman, a GREAT found footage film, this platform seems lacking. It doesn’t hold a torch to Shudder which even they struggle with content, though they’re getting better.

    Might be good eventually.

  • App Steuggles

    Unfortunately, this app can be wonky. It’s currently insisting I update and it won’t play anything until I do. There’s nothing to update, though. Also, it defaults to vertical and not horizontal layout which is bizarre.
    Love the content but the devs need to make this an app for 2024 and not 2009.

  • Worst app/customer service experience ever

    Can’t even watch a movie because it’s telling me I’m not subscribed but I am subscribed and when I tried to re subscribe they told me I couldn’t because I was subscribed. No place to email customer support. But hey they gladly took my $7. Good for them. I cancelled. Keep the $7 because it’s not worth dealing with this pitiful app service any more and hopefully terrifier 2 ends up on a better platform.

  • App flaws

    I subscribed today and see that the movie selection is average. Not much different from Sh___, which I love and has more selections. The main problem is the subtitles on 2 Apple devices I have used so far cannot be turned off, which makes it a pain to watch when you don’t need them. So far, I will not renew after a month.

  • Updated Review from 2022

    Well, Screambox finally added an Apple TV app. About a year late from what was initially promised. This corrected one of my primary two complaints about the service. The quality of movies has improved so, that is an added bonus. I have renewed my subscription after dropping it for the past year. The only issue I still have is in regards to their limitation on devices. Screambox limits you to 4 devices and 1 computer to use the app. You can only change/remove 3 of your devices every 90 days. This isn't mentioned when you subscribe to the service and really should be disclosed.
    For me this is a major issue as I don't watch the service every day and I have too many devices where I may want to stream on at one time or another. Counting streaming tv devices, tablets and phone I have about 7. There still isn't an app for game systems however, it wouldn't matter due to the limitations. I don't stream from a pc but, I can't use that license for another device. Why not?
    They should allow you to use any of your devices and perhaps limit it to two streaming at the same time. Every other service I can think of doesn't limit number of devices you sign in to and potentially stream on. Please correct this and I will update my review again. So far things are improving but, they still have a way to go to be competitive with other services such as Shudder or Arrow.
