Horrible Bluetooth Performance
I never leave bad reviews typically, and try to look at the good in all products, giving them a chance. I was excited when I picked up the Bluetooth Dome Thermometer at my local ACE True Value the other day. The good was that the digital readout was very accurate. I loved the backlight feature using it the first time to put a couple of butt roast on at 4 am in the dark. The bad to horrible was that I couldn't be more than 6 feet away and I'd lose connectivity. I couldn't have been more than 8 feet away, inside my home, standing next to an open window, and it would not connect to my iPhone 12 Pro. The other thing is that it does not alert you in the event you do lose connectivity, which is something BGE should add. It will tell you the last reading unless you close the app out and open it again. I took mine back to exchange it, thinking it was a defect. The replacement had the same exact issue. Returned for a refund. BGE really needs to work out the bugs. Reading other comments I found online, this seems to be the most common complaint. Currently, not worth the hundred bucks they are asking, so don't waste your money.

Excited when I got, disappointed with results
Don’t buy this. They haven’t worked out the bugs. Huge BGE fan here. Been using for 15 years but this product is a big disappointment from them. First the clip on the back won’t snug up to the dome so the thing spins and wobbles around when you open the lid. Old thermometer clip won’t fit the Bluetooth one. Second the Bluetooth range is horrible. Not only will it not connect when I’m inside (glass wall and 20 ft away from egg) but I have to be within 6 feet of it for it to connect.

Needs work
The idea of being able to keep and eye on the temperature of my egg while in the kitchen prepping other elements of the meal was appealing.
Unfortunately it’s seems you need the app open all the time for it to work which for me makes setting the target temperature range sort of pointless as it doesn’t alert you unless you have the app open at which point you can see if it is in the set range.
Also needs some indication that it’s trying to connect/update as when you first open the app it shows the last recorded temperature and unless your very close to the egg takes a little while to update.
Needs to periodically check temp in the background and alert if outside the range. Or at least have a loading wheel when you open the app to show you are looking the previous temperature and not current temperature.
Overall the idea has potential but the app needs work to get the most out of it. Hope there are some updates coming.

Lousy range
Don’t expect to get much range indoors. Maybe 3 feet
Great accuracy, poor range
I love the device. Great idea by BGE. However, the range is so poor that it’s almost useless as a Bluetooth unit. I’ll keep it for the accuracy but I’m disappointed that I cannot use it as intended. I would easily give it a 5 star rating if the Bluetooth range was sensible.
Disappointed in the Bluetooth range
I like the accuracy of the digital thermometer and nice timer feature. However my egg is on my back porch and just inside it doesn’t connect. there is very limited range for the Bluetooth
Nice Try, No Range
Super excited to get the new thermometer. The app was nice, very easy to use. Unfortunately the range is only about 8 feet. I tested it for a few days but no improvement.
