  • The best wargame ever made for iOS

    I cannot praise this highly enough. It is not only the best wargame ever made for iOS, it is also one of the best wargames ever made for computers period. It is based on the outstanding solitaire bordgame “Carrier” from 1993 (which has a daunting 70 pages of rules and is very complex). This app-ified version is a tremendous gift to those of us who love the subject matter but never had the time to learn or play the boardgame. Thank You Cyril!

  • Awesome! This is carrier, flat top, C. V., all in one

    This game here is fantastic.

    It is a traditional war game that reminds me of the best carrier battle games I've grown up playing (the ones that I've listed in the title to this commentary).

    You can play this across multiple formats if you get a single in app purchase

    NB: there are no coins or gems that run out or be replenished.

    AND you can compete hotseat

    OR compete with people from all over the world and it plays asynchronis

    NB: you don't need to be online live to play others in games,
    you take your turn and then it updates the person you are playing that it's now their turn via an alert. This is very much like playing in Play By Email/Mail (PBEM).

    Another huge plus for me is that YOU DON'T NEED AN INTERNET CONNECTION TO PLAY THIS nor any of the scenarios.

    As I mentioned, this is game is based on the kind of naval WWII war games that I remember like: carrier, flat top, C. V., Fire In The Sky, and many other World War II naval games.

    This is exactly what I was looking for.

    AND,

    - I can't believe I can play it on my phone digitally and not have to worry about knocking counter stacks;
    - There is no math for me to do; I can play a friend via hotseat or one across the globe some where;
    - I stream it to my TV from my phone; Play it on my PC;
    - I can switch up play and continue any of my open games on my Mac/PC, play it on my iPad or other tablet.

    That is Awesome.

    Just a fantastic game and has everything that i was looking for.

    I have been in the hospital a lot over the years and now i have a "real" war game that's always with me (because my phone is always with me).

    This matters to me personally.

    It's got everything that I've been looking for in a WWII naval war game and it is still being actively supported in all of its formats and systems (and the community is growing).

    This is hands-down a five star game for its topic and most of its execution for me.

    I Duck one star for two reasons (at this time):
    - The air raids tutorial doesn't cover sending your planes in waves nor why you should do so nor does it explain why you have two air strike boxes (so you can attack separate targets at the same time).
    - I hate interfaces that don't flip to the right landscape orientation. This user interface is set so that it is fixed to one landscape view and if you flip it to my preferred landscape view (volume buttons on the top, if you know what I mean).

    The developer/s are active, kind, and still adding stuff and catching errors.

    You have to know that it's a "real" war game in a style that may not be for you, but it's wonderful for me.

    Watch the video in it here and maybe one day we'll battle recorder in a game some time.

    I'll see you on the waves my friends.

    Thanks you very for this lovely review. One little discrepancy between your 4-star rating and you mention of a five-star game :-)
