Everyone needs to chill out with their dramatic reviews of this app. This app does ONE thing which is to facilitate the software update of the firmware. It takes time. It took me overnight for the app to reflect that the kettle updated. No big deal because the kettle had the same functionality before the update as after the update.
If this app was needed for remote functioning of the kettle, and that wasn’t working right away, sure that would be frustrating, but that’s not the case. You use and program the kettle only on the kettle.
So my advice to everyone is just tell the app to update the kettle and walk away. It’ll update eventually and doesn’t need the update right away for you to have full functionality of the kettle.

Weak
The app just updates, nothing else. It would be nice to set the kettle up via the app and access suggestions for temps etc…
For those having trouble updating…
My app downloaded and mentioned the kettle was updating. It got stuck and there is no sign of what part of the process it is in. By luck, I was walking by the Kettle the next morning after setting up the WiFi on the kettle, and it was updating - which I knew because the circle screen on the Kettles base had a progress bar for the update. My phone was not near the kettle when it was updating. If you want to know if your kettle is updated, my app shows a check mark and says “Up To Date” under the Kettles name in app. Three stars for the app because it did its job, however it is true that it should function better.

It does nothing!
This kettle can’t even set its own clock time via WiFi, I utterly fail to see the point in this app or updating the firmware on a kettle?!

Dumb
Tea and kettles have been around for thousands of years… only in the last 10 or so years have we needed one with firmware that requires updating. When the Stagg Pro was introduced, they had a marketing website talking about remote control. That’s gone out the window… can we just rewind to a nice looking kettle with a simple control for temperature and scheduling? Paying for WiFi enabled firmware updates is like having a water purifier hooked up to your toilet… which is where this app belongs. It works how it’s supposed to, but it’s not what was billed to customers.

Never works
The updater never finds the kettle and you can force it at a time that’s actually convenient or you can check it updates like all other updaters that have ever existed. lol

Both iPad and iPhone apps are useless, neither one will update, always stuck on ‘updating soon’. If I could rate it zero I would have.

Doesn’t work. Hasn’t worked for over a year. Kettle won’t update.

As most have said you are able to connect the kettle to WiFi via the app however the update doesn’t work says update avail u click on the update and then nothing happens seems like it’s just updating forever This app need a a complete fix. Fellow invest a bit more on development for this otherwise this app is just a marketing gimmick as it’s pretty useless even as just an updated cause it can’t even do that right. And I did all the steps reboot, plug /unplug delete reinstall app etc nothing works kinda stuck on that new language update.

Doesn't work
It tries to perform the update but after some time it just gets stuck on "Updating Soon". The kettle still works without the update
