Description of LivingWatch

Imagine a repeater (or chiming) watch on your phone. Now imagine being able to actuate this ‘complication’ in real time. Not everyone can own a watch of this complexity but for the first time anyone can enjoy the sound and magic of this mechanical art. Make no mistake, this is not CGI. This is the real thing!! The first timepiece is a quarter repeater which, when actuated, strikes the number of hours and then the number of quarter hours since the last hour. The mechanism uses 2 chimes of different tones. The low tone signals the hours, and the high tone the quarter hours. The chimes are created by two hammers which strike gongs. Both sides of the watch are visible (by selecting ‘dial side’ or ‘mechanism’). Again, the real time is always indicated. More timepieces will be added as the app develops.

  • This is a watch enthusiast’s dream come true!

Hi there, developers! I just wanted to say that as a watch enthusiast myself, this app is INCREDIBLE! Being able to see and interact with a chiming watch in real time (for FREE no less!) is amazing! And the way you’ve implemented it (by using a seamlessly looping video for the ticking and one of NINETY-SIX separate videos for each individual chime sequence) is beautiful to say the least! If you can, could you share what timepieces are currently in the works? A minute repeater would be the logical next step, but a grand sonnerie (a watch that automatically chimes at every quarter hour like a mechanical clock) would be pretty cool as well! Keep the beautiful timepieces coming!
  • Turn off ticking?

Beautiful! I love it. But how do I turn off the constant ticking/running sound?I want to be able to see the watch working, and hear the quarter-hour chimes, but I don't want my phone to be making constant noise. Having my phone volume so low that I can't hear the ticking is not an option. TIA
  • Suggestion

I liked the front and back views of the watch. It would be excellent if you could superimpose both images with a slider, so you adjust how much watch face you can see on top of the inner mechanism view.

It would also be nice to be able to use the iPhone sounds or ringtones for the hourly or quarter hourly chimes.
