Leave a Review Plant Identifier, Care
Deleted in less than 5min
First thing the app did was want/force me to enter my garden info (no clear option to skip). After getting through that process and getting a chance to test how and how well it worked at identifying plants, I took a pic of a hop plant to see if it would guess the variety (there are many). Its first guess was grapes with hops being a second guess (no varietal guess). Not too impressive...
When looking at what it said about hops and the general flow in that "info" feature, I found the interface to be very limiting and not straightforward.
BUT the main reason for quickly giving up and deleting was that all during the less than stellar described experience I kept getting requests to make a review ("give some love" was one obnoxious way it asked - "but we just met"). It started within less than a minute and came up every 30sec or so.
Well there's the review and here's some constructive feedback:
- Don't have the garden info input be something that automatically comes up (ever). Have it be an option...
- First thing up should be a question if you want a tutorial on how to use and the features of app.
- Don't ask for a review until a number of hours have been logged using the app. And have respectful the "no thanks" buttonShow lessOverpriced for incorrect information & asked early for rating.
There is not a free version. You will be asked early for rating while they let you use the app maybe 5 times for free, but allowing only one plant. They’re diagnosed one plant correctly, they allow one free plant. They can and have actually misdiagnosed a plant for illness. They misdiagnosed one of my plants. A burnt leaf is not pests, someone splashed water on it like a —-, nevermind. I moved the plant because said 55 yo person couldn’t stop acting like a a child in the sprinklers during Summer. (IN THE SHOWER, WITH A CURTAIN. I swear I have to move all plants away from this brown thumb from just sitting next to a plant. I’m joking partially, but not about the shower. Not at all.) After diagnosis, or settling in with your first plant, they hit you with the trial and subscription offer locking you out completely unless you choose. I find their subscription fees overpriced, especially when they are misdiagnosing. There is not a free version. I would suggest an improvement on diagnosis, your broad range of possibilities can be found on Google and your "most likely” was incorrect. I am not going to commit to a trial or subscription before I know whether I actually need or want your app. Please consider a free lite free version with in-app purchases for others. ~A neighbor of a horticulturist, a green thumb Mother of a Botanist looking out for other plant lovers.Show lessDeveloper Response
Hello Plant Lover, Thank you for sharing your experience with Planty. We truly value your feedback and would love to hear more about your situation and suggestions for improvement. There is a limit for free plant identification, caring plan and diagnose. To access unlimited identifications and other features, a premium subscription is required. However, let me share a hint. You can still add plants to your garden without limit using the search feature. Just type the plant name in the search bar and enjoy adding as many plants as you like! If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team at support@theplanty.co. Thank you for sharing your experience with Planty. Happy gardening!Misleading
This is not a free app. By any means. You do need to purchase in order to keep using. Other than that it’s an ok app. I’m not paying for it though. To expensive. Not all plants are recognizable. From the 4 I was able to upload until it keeps reminding you to purchase after that, it does have good info on plants. But keep in mind it’s just as easy to go on google and look up your info or join a plant group on facebook.
It would be worth it because I like one place to go but I like my money more so I’ll just look elsewhere.Show less
