No watch to watch calls; locked into gmail

The good: calls and gps are reliable. The bad: (1) no watch to watch calls (so my kids cannot coordinate leaving school together or walking to school with their friends); (2) only Gmail users may be added to contacts; and (3) calls to phones only may be made to users of Gmail accounts via the Fitbit ACE app. For us, this has meant very limited functionality: contacting parents and grandparents. That’s it. None of my young children’s friends have email accounts or access to receive calls on the parents’ phones (parents of friends would have to opt into the Fitbit ACE app). None of this information was disclosed up front. This only became apparent when trying to set up the watch. I probably would not have bought these watches given the limited functionality.

Works great for our needs

My 9 yr old wanted more independence and to be able to walk home from school and ride his bike around the neighborhood. This gives me peace of mind knowing I can track him and he can call me if anything comes up. The games are highly motivating to get him to move more. Yes it’s simplistic but that’s perfect for his adhd brain and keeps things focused on staying in touch with only people I allow to be added to his profile and moving/exercising more. It also prevents him from trying to find backdoor ways to download apps if he had a phone instead, like he tried to do with our iPad.

Fit bit ace Spicy

So far we liked the new Fit bit ace.Add features like parents can also send voice messages to kids.Looking forward to see more child safety features update from google for this product.

This app is garbage

I bought two Fitbit ace devices for my children. I needed to switch the account and the app does not allow you to move the subscription over to another device… unusable and very frustrating…

More parental control

My daughter was upset that she had a target to walk up 12 flights of stairs, when we live in a town with very few multi story buildings. Most houses here are only one story. We tested and the watch will not register stepping up and down on a chair as walking upstairs. The watch will not register stepping up and down one step on a porch. It would be excellent if I could modify that goal to include some other type of exercise like running around or jumping jacks. Please let the development team know that more parental control is needed.

Keeping my kids connected and safe

This app has quickly become an essential for my family. Messaging my kids is a breeze. They absolutely love sending emojis back and forth!
While the app is a bit simplistic right now, I can definitely see the potential. A few quick UI tweaks and it could be even more amazing.
The location tracking is spot on, which gives me peace of mind knowing where my kids are at any given moment. The "find my watch" feature with the sound alert is a lifesaver for those inevitable moments when the watch gets misplaced.
Call quality is surprisingly clear, and I love that I can reset the lock screen code remotely if they forget it.
Overall, I'm really impressed with this app. It's easy to use, has some great features, and I can see it only getting better with future updates. Highly recommend!

Broken permissions model

Doesn’t allow me to invite my wife , garbage

Good for parents, and little else

Works well for what it dies, but I can’t understand why a watch for our kid includes not being able to contact our other kids or their friends, only adults. Google, step it up and figure it out that we need more than adult contacts on here.

Response from developer

Thanks for the review, JerKepner — we truly appreciate your thoughts. We'll do our best to keep this feedback in mind going forward as we make improvements to the user experience.

Great watch

The watch works really well. The tracking feature and phone calls have worked with no issues and the kids love the games. It would be nice to have more customization of night time hours and choose which functions are available during school hours. Also if there was a way to increase the sizd of the keyboard buttons (perhaps even as letters are pressed?) when texting.

Incredible device for kids and parents

My five-year-old daughter absolutely loves the Fitbit Ace. The games are a ton of fun, but she really enjoys trying to reach her goal and fill her noodle on the home screen. It’s very easy to text and call from the contact list and using this app. I only request is that, more parental settings are added in the app.
