Don’t waste your time and money

Honestly. This isn’t even close to being worth it.
There are very few restaurants, and they have such specifics for use it all basically goes to waste.

They have also changed the rules multiple times just since I downloaded the app three months ago. They change how credits work, when they can use, roll overs, extensions, etcetera.

Their customer service is TRASH. They don’t read any emails or messages but just use pre defined content and hot keys and auto responses.
I have literally asked them to read my emails and stop using the same pre defined content, to which they replied with the SAME pre defined content, except for they changed the timeframe of credits because in the week I had been trying to get help, they changed the rules again.

They refuse to escalate any issues and ignore any and all requests for management or anything.

Save your money. Don’t use this.

Response from developer

Hey Cate. As said in the customer support chat again and again, we read everything, responded to you, and did everything you said we didn't do in this message. Our support team escalated it to me, and I explained everything and cancelled your account and refunded you. We changed how things work right at the beginning of your membership, which I get is annoying but we ultimately think it's a better experience for the other thousands of members that have stayed with us through the transition.

Disappointment

This used to be an app I shared with everyone and hyped up. Really disappointed in the changes you’ve made to the membership. You used to pay $15 to get 2 coupons that got you $10-$20 off per coupon. Now you still pay $15 for 1 credit that gets you $10-$20 off. So I’m paying $15 for what exactly? To maybe get $5 off occasionally and break even on most visits, or be out $5 that could have gone to their tip? I will definitely be canceling my membership, as just getting “insight on new restaurants” is free on multiple social media pages and platforms outside of yours. This is what happens when you support a company from their start up, and they get greedy. No thank you.

You get 2 credits each month for your membership fee, not 1. If you had only one, that was an issue with our credit transition and you should write into support and we will 100% fix this. We'd love for you to update your review once you get this fixed.

So worth it

Honestly the best app out there. You get your money’s worth for SURE! I’ve been to places that I wouldn’t have checked out on my own. The app is super helpful and user friendly and the customer service is always available if you have a problem. Definitely recommend it to everyone I know so they can enjoy it as much as I have. Love it!!!!!!!

The fine print

The restaurant can add a 20% tip if the feel like it…you never know who will or won’t. Seems like merchants get tired of the discounts before the end of the month and just start giving crappy( no) service and then stick you with 20% tip…

So: don’t tell them OFFLINE sent you until the very end. And then don’t be surprised when your bill goes up by 20%. In fact they will not mention it, and still hope to get an additional tip…”sign here and fill in the tip”…look close!

Overall the restaurants have been good food, but you will probably leave with a bad taste in your mouth…OFFLINE is a middle man…one more person trying to take some of their profit. The restaurants are already struggling for business, or they wouldn’t need OFFLINE. Now all these low margin customers come and make them get busy, requiring more staff and hours, but not more profitable. The concept was a great idea on the surface…but in practice, you find out you are just accelerating the demise of a struggling restaurant…like the days we all used to use Groupon…only with trendy hipster vibes.

In conclusion, use the app to see who is struggling…go visit them if you want to…but don’t use the coupon and tip what the service and food deserves. It will not fix a struggling business by introducing a middle man to feast on their narrow profit margins.

Hi there. Any restaurant that adds auto-gratuity to your bill is identified in the restaurant's Offer page. You can scroll through the Offer notes and will see a line about this. I appreciate your attempt at understanding our business model with the restaurants, but it's simply wrong. We've worked very hard at making sure restaurants don't pay Offline anything to acquire new fans of their spot. ~Taylor: VP Product & Engineering

Funny with the Money

The website says they may take a hold out of your account for a few days when you start a free trial. I was charged $120 for my free trial, and was told I cannot get my money back for a week - much longer than is stated on the website.

I emailed customer support about this and they were rude, crass, and unhelpful. I would not trust this company with your financial information, as they have clearly exploited their access to my information - I would hate to see what they have done with other customers sensitive information.

Thanks for writing. We don't control the time that the hold is released but most of the time we see it released within a few days. We also will release the hold at the request of the user if they write in. We also do not store on our servers or ever see your card information as we are fully PCI compliant via our payment processor.

Deceptive

On the first page of their website, they say it’s $10 a month but when you click through and put in your information it switches to $15 a month. I brought it to the companies attention and they said oh it’s $10 if you buy the annual. But on the front page, it says nothing about that so it is false advertising. I’ve emailed them about it multiple times and they’ve done nothing about it. So that tells me they are choosing to be dishonest. Terrible customer service and they actually use humans instead of bots Maybe they should switch to bots. I’m willing to change my review if they honor the advertised price of $10 a month and they change the front page of the website with a disclaimer.

Thx for writing in. Sorry you misunderstood the pricing on the webpage. Before you sign up, all of the numbers are very clearly laid out based on the plan you select and you can choose exactly the plan that makes the most sense for you.

Love!

A friend told us offline was coming to our city so we were able to be early adopters. We love the app and the service, as well as all the changes and improvements they’ve made. They really listen to what users want and make changes based on that.

Easy way to use my Offline Subscription

Offline is the greatest restaurant club around and their app makes it easy to pick offers and get EVERY detail about them, see what other events are going on in the month, connect with friends and view all my preferences. Easy interface to use and pretty self explanatory!

Worth being a member

I’ve been an Offline member for over a year now. The reason I’ve kept the membership, and even transitioned from monthly to an annual membership, is because I’ve enjoyed wonderful experiences in food and friendship. From exploring restaurants I wouldn’t normally go to to doing that with good friends as well as meeting new people. Even when I go to an event alone, I may have good conversation with other members and always have good food.

The app itself has worked fine for me and when I have issues, I get a quick response from the team.

I also truly appreciate how Offline supports local restaurants and other local concepts with the business. Best of all, what makes this membership great is it pays for itself!

Love the app!

Since joining offline I was able to navigate the app and find things without any issues. I think it’s very user friendly and can get you to where you need quickly. I love the layout and the various choices of restaurants and events readily available.
