Description of Kaizen

Unleash your potential with an adaptive training plan and unbeatable race prediction. Gain consistency with a dynamic weekly target, and know how fit you are after every run and before every race. Use Kaizen to make running fit your lifestyle. The app analyses your past races and recent performance data to generate a bespoke training plan. Simple weekly targets keep you on track, and your goals in sight. What’s more, the algorithm is capable of taking your data, crunching numbers, and generating a truly useful prediction for upcoming races. You’ll know what you’re capable of down to a minute and be able to pace yourself accordingly. This means that you’ll run your best possible race. Train on your own terms with Kaizen's flexible and personalised approach. Discover the perfect training program for runners of all levels and goals, whether you’re a: • Newbie • Recovering from injury • Chasing a new marathon or half marathon PB What sets Kaizen apart? 1 WORLD CLASS PREDICTION Kaizen's race prediction, via a custom algorithm refined over 10 years, accurately predicts results. It can predict race pace within 5sec/km, allowing you to run at the optimal speed for your best possible result. 2 FLEXIBILITY Kaizen doesn’t prescribe sessions, so your training is flexible. You can structure your sessions to fit your schedule and preferences. With your training fitting your lifestyle like this, you have the best chance of nailing your targets. 3 TRAINING FOR ANY GOAL Kaizen creates a personalised plan for marathon and half marathon races. Plus, we have a separate plan for generally improving fitness. Whatever your goals, Kaizen has you covered. 4 A SIMPLE WEEKLY TARGET TO STAY ON TRACK The weekly goal – depicted via the circular ‘Kaizen doughnut’, which decreases after every run – is a simple and motivating way to track progress towards your overall running goal. If you get those runs in and hit the target each week, you can be confident that you’re on track. 5 DETAILED TRACKING OF YOUR ACTIVITY Detailed graphs and breakdowns show you the weeks that resulted in the biggest fitness gains and how your training stacked up against your target. 6 THE ABILITY TO SEE WHAT’S COMING UP Project yourself forward and see what your training doughnut will look like next week. Plan your training around commitments, and, when it’s almost time to race, see how the app manages your tapering regime. 7 LESS DISTRACTION, MORE CONSISTENCY, AND POSITIVE PROGRESS ‘Kaizen’ is a Japanese principle of continuous improvement through small granular change – and it perfectly fits endurance running. The Kaizen app tracks every run and focuses on present fitness and future training to calculate a simple weekly goal. It removes distractions and provides a clear target for building habits and consistently progressing towards your goal. HOW TO USE: After connecting your wearable or GPS device, you set a race goal. The app then provides a weekly training target based on the distances you run, your pace in all its variation, and elevation where you live: these are the factors that reflect your training load and overall fitness. Depending on where you are in your race preparation and fitness journey, Kaizen analyses your progress and adapts/builds/tapers your weekly running goal to keep you on track. You gain focus, motivation, and a training plan that adapts to your life… And you join the thousands of runners already using Kaizen to smash their goals. Reviews of Kaizen

  • Bugginess

Can’t even get it to consistently log me in. Love the aesthetics but usability is terrible.
  • Not Much To See Here

This app has very little to no usefulness. They simply give you a goal and you do it. Then say it back up with “scientific data”. My advice to others is to not pay for this ridiculous app when I can do it myself on a Excel spreadsheet.
  • I want to like it but can’t.

I was hesitant to write a review 4 ish days into my free trial because I assumed the app was new and they were still working things out. It’s apparently 4 years old! My big problems are:

    1. It’s so buggy. It’s like.. first 6 months of production buggy. Weeks I plan don’t show up. Runs I complete aren’t recorded in the weekly dashboard.

    2. I have no idea how to use it lol. It’s not very intuitive and I like to think I’m fairly tech savvy usually. But there’s no FAQ, no tutorials, no nothing but a discord group no one’s active in. I get the premise of the app it’s literally USING it that’s confusing.

    3. I also don’t really get the premise of the app. Basically they just tell you how many miles to run in a week to see the gains you want then you’re free to structure that how you want. But if you already know how to structure runs and how to pace don’t you also probably know how to scale mileage optimally?

    4. You can’t plan runs in decimals. I run by percentage. So if I’m running 11 miles for the week, for example, Tuesday and Thursday are both 15% of my weekly mileage so I’ll run 1.65 both days. I round up for silly decimals but they don’t let you use decimals at all. Does no one in kaizen run an extra half mile ?

End of the day it’s just not at all worth a subscription.
