User Reviews: Move Multi

  • Just for Businesses I guess. Can’t get it.

    Can’t even use because I don’t own a business.
  • They killed move multicam.

Sadly, their single camera offering has killed the multicam offering for normal users. No more reasonably priced creator plans. Hopefully someone pops up to take their place. Single cam solutions are weak and a dime a dozen, many free.

Hi there, thanks for your review! We are still offering Multi-Cam subscriptions and we have indie and freelancer pricing available, so please reach out at support@move.ai for more information. 🚀
  • Seems good but bad UI and no tutorials

  • Sign up not allowed?

Can’t even use the app. Maybe market the app when you have something that works.
  • Don’t pay for this

You can’t even access your own footage unless you wait hours for it to hopefully upload without error… which it won’t.

    Developer Response

Hi Badler10510 - we appreciate your feedback, however this is not the expected behaviour of the app, so please do log a ticket so we can troubleshoot the issue you are experiencing and get you back on track. Many thanks 🚀
  • Can’t login on app

Can login on the website so it isn’t my account being the issue. When I open the app it say wrong password everytime, I’ve tried reinstalling it, etc.

    Developer Response

  • Best video AI mocap solution available.

I've used most of the other video/AI mocap solutions out there and used Move.AI starting with its Beta back in December. Regarding results/quality, it's in a class of its own. It's so good that I can't imagine the 3-10k mocap suit makers are not quaking in their boots. Right now, I don't and wouldn't use anything else. The way they do pricing, in general, is also much better than is typically done with the other AI mocap options. Move.ai is a step above. I'll mention some of the weaker points, but it's easily still five stars compared to your other options. From the more critical side: Needing multiple iPhones can be somewhat of an expensive requirement. However, it's also part of why it's so good. There is support for other camera options, including experimental support for any cameras. As I did, many have older iPhones lying around or can pick up an older model relatively cheaply. While the back-end ai mocap solution is top-notch, the UI / Upload side of the equation is not on the same level. From little things like seemingly not being able to prevent iPhones from locking without you setting the timeout manually to never, to various upload of videos didn't work pains, to having to lookup project and session ids on the website to upload from an individual phone if the coordinator didn't manage to get it done, there is plenty I can't say is perfect. But there is a constant release cycle of fixes, updates, and improvements. Lastly, I wouldn't say I like that the yearly creator plan was or is marketed as unlimited with fair use, but in reality, it is something like 30 minutes a month. It's a good deal, but it rubbed me wrong, there should be no mention of unlimited, and I signed up before I even realized it was actually for 30 minutes (and to be fair, a not-too-terrible price per second when you go over) Nonetheless, I wouldn't currently use anything else.
  • Best mocap in its class!

I’ve been testing Move.ai over the last few months during its Beta stage and have been incredibly impressed with the experience. If you’re looking for something that can compete with REAL MOCAP (not just the cheapest of the inertial suits), read on!

I’ll start by acknowledging that there are various other ‘video to motion’ apps and services starting to pop up. This is not the same thing.

So how does it work? From my (non-engineering level) understanding, it uses the iPhone’s camera to track the mocap performers various limbs and joints within the volume you set up. The software then uses the different camera angles to solve the real world location of the actor (much like a 3D camera track works), and generate a 3D motion capture file such as an FBX, which can be retargeted to Unreal, 3DsMax, Maya… iClone… you name it.

You basically need a couple of iPhones (ideally 11s or newer since you want the wide angle lens for better FOV, though it works with iPhone 8 onwards), a few cheap stands and this app.

If you want to see how good the results are, just take a look at the companies Twitter or official website. There’s plenty of comparisons out there, including to Xsens, Vicon, OptiTrack, Rokoko (don’t get me started) and so on.

Did I mention you can capture multiple performers at once? And that there’s no drift since it doesn’t use inertial sensors? I used to be an Xsens Awinda owner before I encountered Move.ai. Now I own 6 x iPhone 13s and a Pelican case. That’s right, it out performed my Xsens, so I sold it.

Do yourself a favor and check this thing out!
  • Amazing Software

Easily the best, simplest (but still has advanced features), and most affordable mocap software on the market. And most importantly, it works with only 2 cameras minimum! It is truly democratizing mocap. I would suggest to anyone who is even just getting into animation, it is fun to use, produces extremely clean output, and makes my 3d animations look professional. It is worth every penny!
