Could do with more functionality or just airplay from the music app

It would be nice to have a browse/search function for Apple Music. I don’t have a Bluetooth speaker so I just use my Mac connected to a 70’s HiFi so it’s useful just to be able to remotely get music playing from my phone. But because I have Apple Music, I want to be able to look up new songs in the remote app or airplay from the music app. It’s nice having good volume control and easy ways around my library.

Home Sharing Frustration

Used to love this app but recently it’s really just stopped being fit for purpose. The home sharing synch with iTunes just doesn’t work anymore. Maybe an apple issue but it’s rendering this app pointless. Only work around I have found is to switch home sharing off from ITunes and then back on again. Even then that’s only temporary and hit and miss. Don’t have the same problems with Apple TV but then again don’t really need the app for that. I keep checking in the hope it gets fixed.

Problem listing HomePod stereo speakers?

Love this app and use it all day every day to control a remote iTunes music collection. But since I have paired homepods into stereo pairs the speakers refuse to appear in the app speaker list until they have been enabled from iTunes direct, at which point they appear. Annoying.

Stopped working

Stopped working on the latest Music update. Makes my Mac useless for music now.

Not working well anymore

This used to be a great app but recently it keeps glitching. When my phone screen goes dark and I have to wake my phone up again it just keeps flashing and doesn’t work at all. I have to swipe the app away in the background and open it up again. It does this every time now. It’s unfortunate because I like the app better than the remote that came with my old Apple TV.

Missing key feature

This is one of the most used apps I have on my IOS devices, using it to control a headless Mac mini music server. There are no iTunes alternatives available I’m aware off, as such it is important to me that it continues to remain relevant. For the most part it works flawlessly with a local music library, what it doesn’t do is quite astonishing, it doesn’t allow selecting music from Apple Music. If I choose an album or song in Apple Music using Remote Desktop from a Mac and then start iTunes Remote on iPad it appears in now playing and functions normally so it seems feasible. Please Apple update this app with Apple Music functionality, don’t make me email Tim Cook over such an obvious shortcoming.

Updated: Apple is rolling out lossless HiRez Apple Music soon, yet this their only remote app for controlling the Music App still cannot see any of the Apple Music streaming stuff. While Roon and Audirvana's remote apps can do just that with their apps controlling HiRez streaming services like Qobuz and Tidal.

Great but needs issues addressed

It’s a great app but needs some issues addressed. First: when adding songs/albums to the queue it used to add them at the end. Currently it adds them as the next block and pushes out the rest of the queue. Very annoying! Also support of HomePod mini should be working. Currently HomePod mini is mostly not available when picking the destinations for airplay and can only be added through iTunes. That really needs fixing.

Remote App is mostly excellent , but some problems

Via the remote app I am able to send uncompressed music from my iMac all over my house and control it with my iPad, my iPhone, & my Apple Watch! Very cool!
I’ve noted two problems that I haven’t been able to fix:
After any significant time out (1 hour), my home pods disappear as on option to send music via Remote app. I have to walk to the Mac and select the option manually (again) before it appears again (temporarily) in app. The remote app sees all other Airplay devices (including non-Apple) and the Music app sees all devices, but the Remote app remains blind.
2nd problem: When Remote App uploads my (extensive) Mac music library, it sometimes lists (& plays) tracks in the wrong order. Not acceptable to one (like me) who appreciates listening to an album in the way intended.
Fix these problems and we’ve got a 6 Star app!

Bear minimum

There are many features in iTunes that you cannot control, such as AirPlay.
They could’ve made the remote into a really awesome app where you can control much more than just the basics such as being able to edit song information or change certain settings, which would make it a very appealing app.

Perfect

Make using Apple TV and audio devices so easy from a phone, especially when kids have lost the remote!
