Molecules User Reviews

It's near, butch untapped potentiol.

Needs things like H2o. And the ability to makecyor own. And the search needs to be better

Biochemists only? What about chemists?

This app would be a killer if we can make our own molecules, both organic (maybe with mechanisms pka etc) and inorganic (with symmetry and maybe even MO diagrams etc). I would buy an app like that for $100. Nevertheless, great start!

Cool app but could be a lot more usefull

For students this app would be a lot more useful if you could get simple molecules even like H2O or simple organic molecules.

It's ok

It's an okay program, but would be FAR better if you could build/submit your own structures

A good start!

This app shows just what the iPhone/iPod touch can be used for apart from games, and has a lot of potential. I look forward to its development in the future. Suggestions for the developer:
1) Althernative views from ball and stick (spacefilles etc.) would be good, as a previous reviewer has said.
2) A better graphics engine - the app slows down a lot with large, complex molecules.
3) When searching for molecules, the search term should stay in the search box as it does in all other iPhone programs I have seen, so that more than one of the search results can be dowloaded without having to search for the same term again.
4) The program crashes sometimes when rendering molecules, usually large, comple ones.

A great start

I was really impressed with the ease of use and the ease of download of data files. I have tried quite a range of protein files and only a few present well and in an interpretable way with the present limited display. a good one is 1gu5 - a promoter/leucine zipper complex. The problem with most is that the display of all atoms makes the picture too complex. It would be great to have the option to remove side chains, or as another review said, to use cartoons. Great potential here for teaching protein structure. I can hardly believe the foolish, ignorant comments that it is 'pointless'

thx - but room for more...?

this is pretty great, but is there a way to see 'normal' molecular structures...? not everyone is a protein biologist.... calcite...? salts...?

Cool, but has issues

As a standalone download the app is cool and has no problems, but trying to download new molecules can cause the iphone to freeze for 30s or more, or else the app will crash back to the menu screen on pushing the (i) button

Cool geek app

Amazing use of multitouch and 3D rendering. Would be nice to have option to change the models to cartoon or ribbon for instance.
